This came up in another context, discussing white shorts as part of girls' soccer uniforms.
I'd like to ask the women here whether they have ever had a leak while menstruating -- in particular while wearing white clothing -- and whether they agree or disagree that the odds of white shorts causing embarrassment are indeed miniscule. What's the opposite of miniscule? I vote for that.
The odds of a leak aren't even miniscule on any given day during a period, let alone overall, especially for teenaged girls who might not be regular yet. |

| Honestly, every time I see a young girl in white shorts I think about this as a possibility. I never knew when my periods was coming when I was a kid. I would have hated to wear white shorts. |

| I literally ALWAYS leak. Also, I played on a boys soccer team when I was 12. I got my first-ever period DURING a game. Yes, we wore white shorts. Was absolutely one of the most traumatic moments in my childhood. |

If you can wear a thong on your period days then you don’t have heavy periods. |

I would say I have had leaks that others could see at a minimum 20 times. Twice I had those leaks go all the way down to my knees... like a crime scene (in my 40's, treated with an ablation)
As a teen probably 5 times. I remember we would tie our jackets around our waist when there was an "issue". Not minuscule. Though I think we need to teach people that seeing blood accidentally is not a huge deal. |

+ one million. It took me years to figure out how to mange my incredibly heavy period well enough that I didn't bleed on my clothing. Thank GOD my high school uniforms almost always included red bottoms! Even as an adult I'd get caught off guard sometimes. Now I have an IUD so it's a non-issue, but white shorts SUCK. Also, you can see underwear through it, which also sucks. |

| Oh yeah this is a terrible idea. I mean really for any kid, bc they will look filthy and get sweat and grass stains. But especially for teenaged girls. I definitely had period leaks as a teenager even though I never do as an adult bc the whole menstruation thing was so new I didn’t know when it would happen or how often I needed to change stuff, or I’d forget to change it or forget to bring pads to school. |

Exactly. I wore tampons AND A PAD, and would still leak sometimes before I could get to the bathroom to change the whole set up. The day I found OB ultras changed my life. And sometimes they would still leak. I was heavy, but within the range of normal. But when mine got heavy, it was a river for several hours. |

Huge issue. Periods are irregular for young girls. Also during soccer you sweat so may not realize it’s blood versus sweat.
If it’s an issue for even one girl - why? I would also be concerned about the see thru of white shorts. This gave me great anxiety during the teen years. Two months ago I had a leak at 43 due to heavy periods. |
