| I have long ( 2-3 inches past my bra strap) fine, black hair. Some thinning at the top but not noticeable to anyone but me as everyone says I have thick hair and I disagree. Anyway lately but feels weighed down, not stylish and frumpy. Any cuts that make long hair age appropriate and look good? O don't want to cut it short. I don't want to color it. |
| I live in an area where almost all women of all ages have very long (often waist or butt length), very dark hair. They usually do large, loose curls/waves and it looks amazing. How does your hair tolerate heat? |
| If you have grey, color it. Long greying hair with an older face isn’t attractive, curled or not. |
| Cut off six inches. It will still be long. |
Agree. My hair was close to your length and i cut it to just below my collarbone. What a difference! It’s got so much more bounce and holds a wave way more easily if I want to style it that way. And it still looks very feminine. |
Chin/jaw length is also nice if it's sleek and I think gray is fine provided the texture is good. So many older women I see look bad not because of color but because of texture or they cut too short and look too butch (I don't get that at all). |
| You're just bored with it, so change it up. But I doubt it looks frumpy. |
| Do you have an angle in the front? |
| Good layers will be your friend. They will provide lots of body and bounce and will help you avoid the Cousin It comparisons. |
Women with long hair are usually the last to realize that their hair looks frumpy or unkempt. If she thinks it does, little doubt she’s right. |
| It's too long. Why do you need hair on your back? Even cutting 5" it will still be long and much healthier looking. |
I live on an island and women of all ages (myself included) have waist length hair. I do big, loose curls. |
I often read that on DCUM, about adult women and little girls, and I just have to conclude it's jealousy. All I see when I'm out and about around the DC area is beautiful long hair. I never see frumpy long hair. |
You’re kidding! It is nearly always straggly and gross! |
I'm not kidding. I've often wondered why people write this on DCUM, so I've been paying attention. All I see in the long-hair department are straight-cut (no layers), shiny haired people. My young daughter is one of them, actually, but we have friends and neighbors who also have beautiful long hair. It's definitely a trend in the teen set. We live in Bethesda, but I drive everywhere in the DC area. |
