I like the name and from what I saw online, it’s considered a unisex name. Thoughts on naming a boy vs girl the name? Is it too feminine for a boy? |
In the US, it's a girl's name. If you name a boy that, he will be teased for it. |
I know many girls and woman but only 1 man |
Girl name.
Alexios is a boys name. |
Isn’t it alexei? Or something like that? What about Alexander? I do not think this is unisex in America. 99% of people will think the person is a girl. |
I'm an ESOL teacher and I've had more than one boy named Alexis. They were both Hispanic. I personally wouldn't name a boy that but these two students were not teased about their name. |
I view as a boy name but it was a popular male name in my Acadian family tree. |
I feel like it was a popular girls name in the early 1980s. |
Probably from Alexis Carrington (Joan Collins)! |
In France, Alexis is a boy's name, but if your child is going to live here... |
^^ Sorry, that should have said 1990s... but it looks like it’s peak was actually around 2000. |
I have known several boys named Alexis who were not teased at all about their name. Elementary age kids do not know it's supposed to be a girl name. |
I know men named Alexis, though if I read/hear the name my first assumption is that they are a woman. |
This. |
I love it for a boy. Partially because I adore Alexis Ohanian (aka Mr. Serena Williams), partially because it’s a great name. |
