If parents can name their daughters Ryan, they can name their sons Alexis.

Nobody is saying they can't but, it is "cooler" for girls to be named boy names and embarrassing for boys to be named girl names. Do ypu know any men who now have women names? They talk about being teased and bullied. When there are so many male names why would you do this to your kid just to make a point?

I could say the exact same for giving a girl a masculine name. Why would you do this to your kid just because you think it sounds "stronger" (internalized misogyny, much)?

We need to push back on this kind of crap, because not naming a boy Kelly or Alexis is just as misogynist as naming a girl Michael.

In modern times it morphed into a girl name. In the past and in other countries it was a boy name (like Leslie and Kelly).

Alexi is the boys name. I haven’t hear Alexis for a boy and that sounds too feminine. Name your kid something normal so they don’t get beat up at school.

I am friends with a Loren, Kim, Laurie, and Ashley. All "men", none are embarrassed, none have childhood trauma from their names. Maybe outside of DCUM people aren't such judgmental d**ks?

To me it's a girl name unless pronounced with a Slavic accent.
