| Just curious. |
| DC. Washington is a state in the Pacific Northwest |
|
DC.
If you say you're from Washington, its the state. Also I mostly clarify I 'live in D.C.'. Most people aren't from here. |
|
I live in Maryland.
But I agree with PP, Washington is a state. |
| DC, but I find a lot of people don’t understand what I am saying, so then I say Washington DC. |
| Washington, DC. People away from here don't know what "DC" is. |
| DC |
| DC |
They don’t know DC is the nations capital? |
|
I say I live "just outside Washington," and then sometimes people ask "Washington state?"
If I lived outside Washington state, wouldn't that mean I lived in Oregon? And I'd say "Oregon"? |
| Depends on who I'm talking to and what I know or assume their frame of reference will be. |
| DC bc most ppl have no idea where Maryland is located. |
| Maryland but if someone asks were I say right outside DC. Washington is the city name but most confuse it with the state so DC makes more sense. |
Get out of your bubble. "DC" is not a place, and it's presumptive to think that everyone knows what you mean, especially if you are traveling internationally. |
| I used to say DC, but when I moved to California I began saying “Washington, DC” because DC is local lexicon, I realized. |
