+1. I couldn't believe she picked the minute he was getting out of surgery, and stuck in NY where he knows no one, to go to the "fat camp." She's been fat for years....she couldn't have waited 2 weeks to go so she could make sure he was okay and give him some help? Can you even imagine being by yourself while you're recovering from heart surgery? Listen, Toby, hard words, but a woman who leaves you when you've just proposed to her, and are recovering from heart surgery, is not a woman who's going to be there for you in good times and bad and sickness and in health for the next 50 years. Just sayin'--you might want to keep looking. |
Agree, plus the fact that 12 years ago, they were 24 years old. So they would have been married for, what, 4 years? |
I think the point is to make it that much harder on the audience when he does eventually die. Which we know will happen. And I spent all last night hoping it wasn't this episode since they showed Kate as an obvious teenager when they were going out to dinner with Sheely and Miguel. |
I kind of like that story line. ![]() But they have known each other since 4th grade and first kissed in 8th so it seems like they were together for a long time but married only briefly. I think the problem with Sophie is the actress, she isn't that great. Jack is amazing is killing me. So much so that now Mandy Moore is annoying me and I generally like her. Having lost my parents to cancer I think they are doing the Randall story really well. It is a complete mind fuck to worry about someone not on treatment and try to figure out how/when they are going to die. To go between yelling to crying. Plus work.....yeah, mine became a shit show too so perhaps it just strikes close to home. |
I'm also done with Kate and Toby. It seems like they are constantly fighting. I hate how he left her with the jewelry and guilt trip. Ugh. Enough with them |
Apparently, while the cast was filming at a house, they noticed the neighbor next door was watching the show so they all went and knocked on his door to surprise him. Too funny!

That's so cute. |
They seem like a sweet cast ![]() |
Totally over Kate and Toby. I wanted to like them and did, initially. I get Toby a lot more than I get Kate in the context of the storyline, but they both bug me now. |
yes, but she initially went to NY for the holidays and was planning to have surgery because she knows she needs to work on herself and he showed up unannounced. he just keeps shoving himself in her face. not to mention when she was trying to diet and he gave up he did things like order desert. That is such a d*ck move and not at all supportive. He is such a controlling jerk. |
I don't like Toby either. He is way too pushy. He forces her to do stuff like the Steelers game then just shows up unannounced and puts her on this big guilt trip. He is one of those guys who everyone thinks is really nice but isn't. Her brother controlled her for years and now Toby is doing it. My prediction is they break up and she finds herself and can stand on her own. |
I don't think Toby is controlling. He's just a big personality that likes big gestures. Some people would like that, some people would hate that. It's not clear to me whether Kate likes it or hates it, but she's unable to establish her own boundaries and therefore responds in a very passive aggressive manner. Seems like a lousy fit. |
I can't stand Toby. So controlling. Hope they break up. |
I can't stand Kate. She is awful.
Agree that the "jack is amazing" storyline is getting old and boring. Seriously, can he do no wrong? :eyeroll: |
Well he had his alcoholic years (or however long..I can't tell). |
