As an FYI the admissions percentages for those bright candidates would have dropped precipitously without lacrosse. Let’s not pretend otherwise. |
Reminder: sports are accomplishments, too. |
Amen. Without lacrosse they would have had the same 5% chance as every other 4.0 UW/1580 applicant. |
You could say that about any accomplishment. "without that _____ they would have had the same 5% chance as every other 4.0 UW/1580 applicant" |
Like the girls basketball player from Sidwell. Great academics and great player.
Oh wait. Didn’t she also have legacy and family connections, VIP connections and money? |
Come on, you know that’s not true. |
How do 4.0/1580 applicants have only a 5 percent chance? |
I'm surprised that more DMV parents aren't more savvy in realizing the risks of these kinds of public disclosures, given the high profile and, at times, security clearances, government roles of many of their parents. Kinda dumb having your kid's recent full length photo, their 1st & last name, the physical location where they can be located ( including what campus building/ their major and what sport ) for the next 4 years. |
No other “accomplishment” tips the scales like recruited athlete. |
Starting a successful business, a passion project that changes other peoples lives for the better, a published book, etc |
Not true. Recruited athlete is totally different application process and nothing else come close. Do you really not know this? |
