His argument is bullshit though. He participated in a conspiracy to defraud Georgia that included persuading state party officials and unelected electors to sign fraudulent documents. None of that was remotely in his job duties at DOJ and his RICO trial is not severable from the Georgia trial of the Georgia officials that he helped dupe into committing fraud in Georgia. |
It would be in federal court in Atlanta, wouldn’t it? |
I assume the courts have run out of patience on these procedural delays. Trump has tried to call every action - including hush money to Stormy Daniels - an "official presidential act". He's crafted this fiction that sitting presidents, ex-presidents, candidates, and the people working for them are all immune from prosecution. This "l'etat c'est moi" attitude was rightly tossed in the garbage can by our Founders. |

Eastman looks like they told him his bail number right before they snapped his mugshot. |
It would be hilarious if the feds charged him with the same charges in addition to, not instead, of the state charges. It can be done. If U.S. Marshals have to arrest them and extradite them to Georgia, they will likely never be released on bail. |
Exactly. We are all tired of it. And sick of people say that it's all decided at the election box. No. If they commit crimes while they are entrusted as a public servant, we do get to prosecute that. Not just *not* re-elect them. Otherwise we have a corrupt system where public officials can do anything they want. |
This is complicated because I think Meadows has been cooperating with the Feds but clearly not with Willis. |
No. Rudy is delusional. The premise of his argument is that running for president gives you immunity. He’s also lying. Trump has not been found innocent. There have been no trials on January 6 to date. (And he lost the e Jean Carroll civil case). He has not been denied his right to counsel. I could go on but I’m no longer prepared to be politely silent when people lie. And he’s terrified. Hear the shake in his voice. |
If that was true, then why wouldn't everyone potentially at risk of a criminal indictment start running for President? Shoot up a school? Just run for President and get immunity! The argument is patently absurd. |
No he’s not. Among other things he’s wrong about mentioned by PP, being a lawyer is a privilege, not a right. A privilege that can be and has been suspended or revoked. Lawyers need to obey the law and uphold the ethical principles of the profession or be subject to discipline. |
That's the alcoholism and desperation. |
