Ehhh.... many of us saw the warning signs even as Jacobin and others were hyping Musk. We raised the red flags, but were dismissed and mocked for it. We were right, as we almost always are. In fact, I got banned from Twitter for raising concerns about it back in November shortly after Musk took over. Concerns that were and still are 100% accurate. |

I am a frequent Twitter user and the only difference I've noticed is that some far-left folks promoted Mastodon for a while and then left...only to come back. |
I don’t see where Jacobin was ever cheerleading for Musk. Rather, they seem to approach him through their socialist prism as just another rich guy. The point is that Jacobin reasonably found merit in the twitter files. That’s one thing. Subsequently, as a separate matter, they condemned some of Musk’s actions re his stewardship of twitter. Do you understand? |
Cool story bro. Mastodon is still gaining users in droves and many Twitter accounts are reporting they've lost as much as 25% of their regular users. And no, it's not bots getting cleaned out, because I'm seeing nonstop instances of bots all over Twitter. Not to mention, people getting annoyed with the huge increase in advertising tweets and being flooded with non-relevant tweets from accounts they didn't follow. |

^^So much lying and obfuscation on DCUM^*
In the first week of January 2023, the number of active users on Mastodon hovered around the 1.8 million mark, compared to the around 2.5 million active users that the platform had at the beginning of December last year. Twitter's user count is expected to grow upwards of 335 million in 2023. |
Math and facts are foreign concepts to most dcum posters
|
Look at you talking about "lying and obfuscation" while YOU peddle an entirely fake claim pretending Mastodon has dropped from 2.5 million in December to 1.8 million now and that users are leaving in droves. Who told you that? Elon?
Reality is that Mastodon grew from less than 1 million before Elon took over Twitter to 9 million now and continues to grow. https://pathofex.com/mastodon-user-count/ Is the mastodon user base smaller than Twitter? Absolutely. But is it shrinking, are users bailing in droves to go back to Twitter? Absolutely not. |
| And meanwhile Twittter continues to have millions and millions of bots, there are users with dozens of alt accounts, and so on. None of that has gotten any better since Musk took over, despite Musk's claims. If anything it's gotten worse. On his watch there has been a flood of pro-China bot accounts trying to drown out info about protests, and so on. |
Drop the lies and attempts at obfuscating the truth. My source is The Guardian, Sat Jan 7 2023: "The number of active users on the Mastondon social network has dropped more than 30% since the peak and is continuing a slow decline, according to the data posted on its website. There were about 1.8 million active users in the first week of January, down from over 2.5 million in early December." |
Guardian is wrong and their count is faulty. Mastodon is a federated network with over 9 million active users. |

Twitter Files: Twitter received a ton of warnings about violence on January 6th, and DID NOTHING. https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2023/01/17/jan6-committee-report-social-media/
Why didn't Taibbi report on THOSE emails? The fact that Taibbi didn't even bother to mention something as earth shattering as that highlights how dishonest this "Twitter Files" crap is. |
The warnings were on DCUM as well. Should Jeff be in trouble for not reporting it? |
|
Twitter's revenues are down 40% according ti Reuters.
So there is that. |
People posted tweets and links to articles on DCUM. That is different than, you know, hosting the tweets on the native platform. And at least for me, yes, it was reported (and apparently ignored by the FBI) |
