I went for a run yesterday and my god the chafing I had afterward was insane. I was wearing running shorts with a liner, the chafing is basically where the liner rubs against the area where my glutes and hamstrings meet.
I want to go for a run after work today. For those of you who deal with this, do you have any tips? I’m thinking about cutting out the liner. I rubbed neosporin on the chafing last night and that helped, but it’s definitely still raw and sore. I guess I could go to the gym and wear a pair of tights and workout indoors, but if anyone has a good tips or two for reducing chafing, I’d love to hear from you. Thanks! |
leggings/bike shorts. Always. Cotton. |
Glad you posted this. I did a 7 mile run on Friday evening- super humid- and my sports bra rubbed the skin off the area between/under my breasts. I'm going to have chest calluses by the end of summer. Anyone know what to do? |
I also only wear leggings or bike shorts. Try some diaper cream on the chafing if you have it around. I have personally used Triple Paste with good (and fast!) results. |
Thanks for this tip - is triple paste something you can get at CVS? |
FEIW I started wearing the Nike Flyknit bra this year and one of the nicest things about it is that I don’t chafe at all - it’s basically seamless. |
Yes. It's expensive for diaper cream, but I am kind of brand loyal to Triple Paste for my babies and myself. |
Body Glide. I use it all the time to prevent chafing. |
Logistical question: do you rub it on right before working out? Does it need time to dry? Thanks! |
+1 Male runner here and I typically do 10 and 15 mile runs. Chafing has been an issue where my thighs meet and Body Glide is a life saver. Another idea might be to wear moisture wicking spandex underwear that extend down to your thighs and cutting out the netting. I've also used Body Glide on my nipples to prevent chafing there. The downside to Body Glide is the smell. It smells weird and that's coming from a guy with bad olfactory senses. Good luck and keep running! |
I am the one who recommended body glide. have used it for years, hate scented thing and have never noticed a smell from body glide...hmmm |
Is Body Glide available locally or is it something you have to order online? Thanks! |
Oh I use it for treatment (so right after shower), not prevention. Body Glide for prevention. |
This. |
It's available locally. Here is a link to Target but it's available other place. The link is the pink "for her" kind but either one works. https://www.target.com/p/body-glide-for-her-anti-chafe-moisturizing-balm-0-5-oz/-/A-50790803 |
