| Frequently on this forum, if a woman talks about having multiple partners or doing unconventional sexual things, she’s called a “whore,” “hoe,” etc. These insults are almost never leveled at men. So, I ask you: (a) what’s with the double standard?, and (b) what’s wrong with loving sex and having lots of partners (if you’re a woman)? |
| Your title and actual post ask different, entirely unrelated questions. Which would you like answered? |
|
| I like your first question. Nothing wrong with being a whore. |
|
Whore implies 1) you are exchanging sex for money and 2) it's a negative connotation.
If your concern is that prostitution should be legal/morally acceptable, that's one issue. If you are asking why should promiscuity be considered to be wrong for women, that's a whole other thing. |
Well for most people it is obvious what the OP is asking. |
| Women who play fast and loose are more likely to get pregnant by men who have no interest in being a father, and often lack the resources to adequately provide for the child, and we all know women earn less than men doing the same jobs. That places a greater burden on society as a whole to support these children that were conceived after a few minutes of fun. That’s why. |
| It's fine to have multiple partners if you are honest. A hoe ain't honest. |
NP. I don't think so. They are two different questions, and the usage is eliding from one definition of the word to another. |
Not if the women in question are relying on Nexplanon implant or an IUD for contraception. The likelihood of getting pregnant then is much less than the likelihood of a married woman getting pregnant by a man who is unwilling or unable to provide adequately for the child (illness, death, deadbeat divorced dad, gets laid off in a bad economic downturn, what have you). If someone just doesn't want women to have sex, it's unfortunate that we actually have really good ways of preventing pregnancy, as well as pretty darn good ways of preventing STI transmission when done appropriately. You can't just blame your disgust on rational reasons -- you have to own it. |
So the solution would be to promote birth control, not to denigrate one sex over the other. |
| Uh, people still get pregnant on birth control, even IUDs. Women who sleep around are simply more likely to get pregnant by deadbeats. Own it. |
Nice try. But that is not at all what OP means and you know it. |
So you are saying that because women are under-compensated, but should be chastised and shamed, rather than focus on the higher-earning male who doesn't want to support the child? Makes total logical sense. Yep. |

Morally, absolutely nothing is wrong with having numerous partners. As long as both are consenting and willing adults.
From a medical point of view, not the smartest idea. Your risk of getting an STD, HIV, etc. goes up significantly the more partners you have. However, that is none of my business. In conclusion, I refuse to use terms such as "whores," "hoes," "skank," or "slut" when describing a woman. |
