What are the kids who major in English like? |
Smart? Yes. Wise? Not really.
-English major |
That’s like Hispanic students majoring in Spanish because that’s their native language. |
Dumbest comment of the year. |
Smart maybe, but not employable. |
Smart. Yes. |
Smart. Extra smart if they pick up a few highly marketable technical skills in addition to the critical reading/writing skills of their discipline. |
Well, you can certainly tell DCUM posters are defensive about it. |
+1 Maybe written by someone who struggled to complete both the English and FL gen ed requirements? |
kid may be smart but majoring it is not a smart decision |
Yes, usually smart because usually well-read with excellent writing skills. Agree that it is a path to further graduate school, though, not immediate employment. |
I was not an English major. I just think it’s a weird question. The dumbest person I ever met was in the dental school at Pitt. It hurt my head listening to the crap she prattled about. But she’s a dentist now. |
I don't consider it a wise choice to make. |
That doesn't mean she was the "dumbest person". Maybe you were not at the same level as her intellectually speaking |
If you can write, that’s employable. |
