These self-congratulatory posts are not impressive. Any non-English majors think English majors are smart?? Anyone? |
Yes. |
Of course. This is just not a serious topic. |
Yes, all of the English majors I know are quite bright and give off a bit of an intellectual vibe.
Communications majors on the other hand... |
Commenting during a SUPER busy workday no less. At a nice private college it’s a Mrs Degree. At a public U it’s worthless. |
It's sad... 9 pages of "I am great, I am great..." it's like they have no clue how others think of them. |
Huh. At my private college, the English major had a very high proportion of lesbians. Most others were feminist/social-justice types. |
Nope, just answering the question. Cool when you agree with your own dumb posts though. |
They are like kids who major in Comm, Gender studies, or Art History majors. Bottom feeders basically. |
Pretty sure we’ve located the bottom feeder. |

Like all of these questions, it depends on the caliber of the school and the wealth of the student. If you're some rich kid at Dartmouth, go ahead and concentrate in English. If you're a middle class kid at pudunk U, probably not the wisest idea. |
The English major's parents are either not wise or indulgent and the student isn't old enough to know better. |
You realize studying English Lit is a pathway to many really amazing careers right?
You'd think you were talking about dance or marine science. |
A lot of people here seem to think educations are all the sort where when you are done the tools are yours to keep. |
