Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) on Monday weighed in on President Trump’s series of attacks aimed at Baltimore over the weekend.

Hogan, once thought to be a potential GOP primary challenger to Trump, called the president’s comments "outrageous and inappropriate" while appearing on WBAL’s “C4” radio show.

He pointed to a speech he gave over the weekend where he discussed the “angry and divisive politics that are literally tearing America apart.“

“Enough is enough,” Hogan said. “People are completely fed up with this kind of nonsense. Why are we not focused on solving the problems and getting to work? ... Quite frankly, what is the president doing? What is the Congress doing?”

Hogan was reacting to Trump's string of attacks on Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) and the city of Baltimore over the weekend in which he sent out more than a dozen tweets bashing the lawmaker and district he represents.

Hogan said he, unlike Washington, is focused on solving the problems that currently plague Baltimore, but acknowledged he could use some assistance.

“What is the president doing and what is Congress doing,” he said. “We're doing a lot of things, but we sure could use some help from the White House and from the Congress.”

Wow, he finally says something.

When he does, it's not that specific.

Larry is not my fave gov.

Only took him 3 days. What a jerk. He's governor of the state and can't be bothered to defend it from attack.

Too little too late.

How do you defend Baltimore?

Seriously? How?

It was unfair for Trump to single out Baltimore for criticism. The same things could be said about Southeast DC or inner PG County.

Oh look, the bigots found this thread. That didn't take long.

+1. The truth hurts, but until we are all ready to speak about it and acknowledge it, nothing will change there. Of course, ultimately, that is what those in control want.

Baltimore is a scandalous mess, we all agree on that.

We also agree that Trump lashes out childishly, and often below the belt, at people who examine his supposed misdeeds or voice criticism of his incredibly incompetent and divisive presidency.

He does not have the poise and self-control of a President and the fact that some people like that is extremely disturbing.

I don't agree that Baltimore is a scandalous mess. It's in no worse shape than many red state areas--Trump just likes to attack people of color who would never vote for him.

Aren't you actually agreeing with the point, though? Many of those red state areas are scandalous messes, as well.

Your final point is absolutely incontrovertible, though.

Many many areas of the United States have a problem with gun violence, even some garlic festivals in the San Francisco area. That doesn't make Baltimore an outlier as a "scandalous mess." I personally like Baltimore a lot and go there regularly from DC for tourism, specialist medical care and good food.

The truth is that Rep Cummings Committee issued subpoenas to Javanka, and that is what pissed POTUS off and why he is trying to attack Cummings.

The truth is that if a Dem said anything close to as nasty as that about some rural place in Kentucky, the right wing would be outraged the elitism and lack of compassion. Heck, we hear that sort of thing when some anon rando here says some elitist thing about those places. In this case its the President of the USA dunking on an American city.

Doesn't really sound like a "defense" to me. He's acknowledged problems with the city, but at least in what was quoted above there's nothing of him actually sticking up for Baltimore and acknowledging any good in it.

Yup. Pretty lame. But Baltimore isn't fond of Hogan, and he's term limited out anyway, so he doesn't GAF.
