This thread is for those who like the show so if you don't please post your dislike in your own thread.
If you are one of those who just can't stop watching it then this is a place you can share any thoughts. I did not expect for it to be so engaging. I just randomly came about it and decided to give it five minutes and then move on, but boy, it is so entertaining. It is not House of Cards, that I grew tired of, that one had it's moments but the general Macbeth'esque - like atmosphere was bit of a turn off. I was afraid that the Designated Survivor might follow the same suite but boy how not. It is at the same fast action thriller and to a degree political show but not overly intense or boring in any way, it has it's comical moments and hilarious situations and very well designed characters that are just perfectly written. So is the script. I am still working on season One but wonder if they will keep the same pace through. It is amazingly fast paced so there is no chance for loosing attention. Great casting. I think considering how many in DC are expert on catching any inconsistencies in the series, I am sure there are some and there are plenty of people fast to point but this thread is not about this, it is about what make it fun to watch and how much fun to watch it is. If you have anything to share, please do. I wanted to say that I hope they will extend it beyond the current season because I might run of episodes by the end of Summer. It is fun to see how they embedded so many DC metro area places, I am sure people living in those places are having fun to see their area getting a mention in the movie. Love the acting of everybody but Kiefer Sutherland is so calming and so relaxing to watch, if anybody needs a therapy, watch him in this show.. ha hah ha.. Kal Penn, great performance as always. Everybody is awesome. Really. Great cast. |

Funny OP you wrote an essay but didn't say what season you're on.
Also I loved Designated Survivor's 1st season so much. The 2nd season was good. But I absolutely hated that they turned the show from a 24 theme to West Wing with a slight local terrorism bent. So annoying. |
I agree and I don’t like that the conspiracy plot line was completely separate from the presidents plotline. I liked how it was so integrated in the first season but hate the new seasons and how different the newer seasons are from the first two. |

I think if they continue with one theme it would grow old pretty fast. What they did, saved the show and keeps it interesting because while it continues with the peripeties of the president, it does blend in the other topics and the way they did is pretty convoluted and impressive to keep that many different plots going. It is pretty neat writing gymnastics and they are doing pretty darn good job at that. I moved on from the first season to the beginning of the third and still amazed by the pace and the overall quality. Will keep watching. |
PP here, no not third, second. I am in the beginning of the second season. Like on third episode of the second season. |

They should bring the wife back. Here is how.. she should have a sister who got adopted by different family and nobody knew it all this time because her mom gave her up for adoption in France.. as she was a result of a fling with someone who broke her heart and she married next year.. this is btw.. why Mother of the First Lady went to France now .. so she can live in secret with her "other secret daughter". So this somehow is discovered by the FBI or CIA or what have you..
and turns that the daughter never knew about having a sister and being related to the president.. She comes to visit, falls in love and the rest is the future.. She should be played by the same actress, just hair color should be different and bit different hairstyle. Tada.. problem solved. The guy needs a wife. |
Isn't that what the trans sister from France is for? They basically already wrote the script of the POTUS falling in love and marrying her. Just have to see if Kiefer would be willing to do it. |
Oh there is a sister already? I am way before that then. I am only in the early stages of the season two so I had no idea but that would be wonderful. Apparently brilliant minds think alike hahaha. I feel like I just rediscovered the wheel. |
Wait! Are you trying to merry Kiefer or the POTUS ?
|
| I can't have enough of the sarcastic humor of the Lyor Boone played by Paulo Costanzo. He is absolutely adorable. He is hilarious. The character is perfect and the acting is beyond fabulous. His lines crack me up and sometimes I just rewind to hear them again. He takes the cake for the funniest lines. |
Kiefer plays POTUS and with Designated Survivor's viewership numbers the only reason it was renewed was because its his pet project. He controls the show, so if he doesn't want the sister to be the wife, she won't be. |
If it is true and if Kiefer can read this - then please, could you please want to want to do this?
I for one would be very happy. I don't know why but somehow it feels right. Also, do you guys feel that the Kiefer's voice is so beautifully hypnotic? I just could listen to how he talks all day long, it is so calming. How does he do this? Just perfect pitch and perfect tone and all that.. just so wonderful. |
I'm sorry - this was so funny. After watching Kiefer on 24 first, calming is the lassttttttttttt attribute I'd label him with. |
Meh, you are trying to rain on my parade. 24 was different character altogether. I guess it required lots of yelling.
In Designated Survivor Kiefer is perfectly perfect in the character and he is just so wonderfully calming. You can not deny this to him and citing past role does not change anything other then more power to Kiefer for the ability to portray different character in different way. Right? I take your 24 and I raise you Designated Survivor.. Just listen to his voice again.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YGHMVjpedI |
