I have watched all 3 seasons on Netflix with tonight being the last one - sad tear
I stumbled upon it and almost gave up after watching the first few episodes but it got so much better. The only thing very unbelievable thing for me is how quickly America recovered from having its entire top government wiped out - that seemed so unrealistic. Anyway, I love that Kiefer has wrinkles and his face is not all messed up with botox and fillers - if he is using them, it is subtle and well done. I loved the actress that played his wife but her hair style in season 2 was bad - Jane Seymour and very 80s. Lastly, this show made me truly consider that we need an independent party as a viable option - in reality, the Dems and Reps don't look appealing anymore. If we only could have a party that is beholden to service of what we the people want and need and not some power play of the ultra rich. The way Kiefer acts as President is really inspiring! |
Honestly the Independent Party thing annoyed me. I loved the show 'in general' and the First Lady's hair was elegant and pretty to me. But the Independent push was just...no. If you've ever lived in a country with more parties than sense, you'll come to appreciate the dual party focus of the U.S. Germany has a Pirate Party (a legitimate one which won seats in their representative's caucus) for god's sake. And Britain? The less said about the Brexit mess - the better. There are entire articles and studies devoted to basic explanation of what the voting representation and what each of the dozen plus parties stand for in Parliament.

| Thanks for starting this thread I hadn’t realized there was a 3rd season! |
My pleasure! It is great to share. It is because of other user's tips I was able to find great shows and books, so happy to pay it forward. Let us know how do you like the season 3 once you will finish. |
I just so hope they keep making new episodes. It is very addictive and so much fun to watch. It is great Summer watch. I agree with you that that the nation's recovery was kind of undertreated on many levels but the show has so many other great attributes. But totally, this does sound unrealistic to a degree. Agree on the Kifers' natural look. It is just so wonderful to see a guy who respects the nature and is not messing up with his face for short term gain. He looks real and in the ocean of fake in Hollywood this is such a refreshing look. He is just easy on eyes, unlike many guys with post op looks that instead impressing you with that fake-youthful look, make you wonder where the stiches are and if he will be able to smile in the next scene. Kiefer's facial expressions are so perfect. He can convey slightest tones of emotions with minimal changes of expression and you go "wow". It really conveys the depth and tones beautifully. And his voice of course. Kifer's Therapy. I really hope this thread will not be taken over politics. It is everywhere and this show is kind of giving a little break from hard politics as it entertains different angel that many people, maybe everyone at time entertained. It is just one of those "what if" and it is interesting to see it being worked on screen like a simulation program in front of our eyes. Since this is fictional show with fictional character no harm done to actual real political system. Right? It is just fun to watch political si-fi. |
| What happened to Lyor Boone? |
Loved Season 1 of Designated Survivor; Season 2 was engaging in spite of how unrealistic it was. Season 3 (when they moved to Netflix) is such an abrupt change in characters (many previous important characters disappear without explanation) and seismic shift in the language and explicit sex that was not present in the previous seasons. Parents beware it is not a family show in Season 3. Suddenly the characters we have come to know are using F bombs, and new homosexual characters engage in explicit sex scenes. And loads of political agenda with "real people" videos related to opioid addition, transgender support sessions, etc. |
Thanks for the heads up regarding some of the objectionable stuff. Unfortunately my 10 has become obsessed with this show, and we just started season 2. She can deal with “pissed off” and “dammit,” but F bombs and explicit sex would have been an unpleasant, unanticipated surprise. I’ll watch season 3 and see if I need to censor parts of it. |
