It’s actually a pretty nice area comparable to WS as a whole. Larger 3 bedroom 3 level TH’s and larger SFH across the parkway. Look on Google maps for the area around Rolling and the parkway where the streets have White House-themed names. |
Interesting. Then, I’m not sure why SA is pushing so hard for that pocket to go to WSHS, unless the change in capacity that results cinches pushing HV into Lewis. The maps that have HV as a split feeder going to SC have been deemed an error and we are waiting to see how this error is fixed. |
Thursday's meeting should be interesting. I think the Board may be realizing they are on the losing end of this issue.

Ricardy Anderson is also unhappy about a Thru proposal intended to deal with the fact that Bailey's Upper ES lies outside its attendance area. The Thru proposal would adjust the boundaries but send hundreds of low-income kids in Culmore who live within a short walking distance of Bailey's ES (Lower) to Sleepy Hollow ES. It was a case study in the consultants coming up with a "solution" that's worse than the problem it's trying to solve. There are many other instances where the Thru Consulting recommendations were equally stupid. |
Who could have ever guessed that a no-RFP contract to an out-of-state firm would’ve resulted in this mess? |
People expected this consultant to be woefully incompetent and, in that regard, they've certainly exceeded expectations. FCPS doesn't want to provide BRAC members and other members of the public with the information they've requested, because it would enable them to come up with better proposals far more quickly and at far less cost. |
Those Rolling Valley/Key/Lewis neighborhoods were neve zoned for West Springfield. Thru moving their elementary from Rolling Valley to Saratoga makes perfect sense. Saratoga is the exact same distance as Rolling Valley, and limits their change to just elementary and not high school. Moving that Lewis neighborhood to WSHS, when Anderson is also saying WSHS must be rezoned because of overcrowding makes no sense. My gut says either a political donor, a coworker, or someone with a close personal connection owns property in that Rolling Valley Lewis neighborhood, because SAs idea is so out of left field and makes no sense in the context of the rezoning process. |
The entire area is unhappy SA, her roll in pushing rezoning, her refusal to advoacte for or listen to constituents, and her weird fixation on moving one Rolling Valley neighborhood of very nice houses from Lewis to WSHS at the expense of neighborhoods that have been zoned for WSHS for over 4 decades It is definitely not one person who is incredibly disappointed with Sandy Anderson as a school board rep. |

I agree, I looked up several of SAs biggest donors and at least one lives in an area up for a “better pyramid” where the change. seemingly, doesn’t make sense. Although I wasn’t looking at RV/key/lewis splits, I wouldn’t be surprised if those were there too. It goes back to the initial ‘why’ of her pushing this as her passion project to begin with. It just seems that she isn’t being honest and her lack of communication makes me question her motives more and more. |
Is there a way to see all the comments people made |
Same. We are in that “error” and I just left feedback again before the boundary review tool closes. |
Many of the Lewis zoned houses in that area outside the parkway are very nice for the area. They are easily the nicest house zoned for Rolling Valley by a mile. Most, if not all, of the WSHS zoned houses in the Rolling Valley neighborhoods are small ramblers and split levels, some of the smallest 1960s houses in the area, plus townhouses. The RV houses zoned for Lewis are large, spacious, much newer and updated. They are very nice houses at a Lewis discount. If they get rezoned for WSHS, they will shoot up in value over night. |
Just in general, many of the houses that are zoned for Lewis are nice. There are neighborhoods closer to Lewis that are very nice and the whole Saratoga area is nice. All of those families deserve better than what the SB has done to Lewis re: IB vs AP, the academy etc. |
I do agree that they desrve better than what the school board has done to them. But Franconia district continues to elect the same people to represent them. If you keep doing the same thing you will keep getting the same results. |
