Should I call it quits... deflated.

I had my 2nd ER this year and both times, I had only one egg retrieved. Apparently all the others were empty follicles. I am very fortunate to have insurance coverage to get me a few more cycles, but I'm wondering if this prevalence of empty follicles (at 2 different clinics) is really demoralizing and making me wonder if my eggs suck a lot more than I thought. It sucks big time to wake up to an embryologist looking at you with pity.

I'm 36, 0.5 AMH. I have had one spontaneous pregnancy--> live birth.

Is this a reality check that IVF is not well suited for me? Or should I view this empty follicle thing as a two-time fluke?

I assume by your post that you have one heathy child? If so, I think a serious thing to consider is how feeling consistently deflated and pouring emotional energy into trying to have a 2nd is affecting your existing child and your ability to parent in a healthy, undistracted way. If it is a negative effect, then you might consider options differently than if it isn't affecting you or your child (or relationship with your spouse) at all.

I appreciate this perspective but I don't think it affects my day to day parenting. I'm feeling extra depressed because I just had my egg retrieval like 2 hours ago but I'll be fine soon. But it doesn't mean I won't pick up my child, bathe her, feed her, play with her etc.

Just looking for commiseration or other stories to help me get a perspective on this medically/cost benefit wise.

If your insurance is good, I would try again. You don't want to regret not trying later. What centers did you go to? Some are better for dor than others. What did your Dr say

That's true. I went to GW and am now at CCRM-NoVA. Was really hoping the clinic change would help, but not yet, it seems. Plus CCRM Nova insists on growing even one embryo out to blast to test, whereas GW wanted to do a day 2 transfer. So it's very likely I will be down to 0% chances in the next few days.

No, you should go see dr D at dominion and at do natural cycle Ivf.

Do you need to stay local? Davis at Cornell is really good for dor. Ccrm is going to push for blast transfer. It may not work in your case. Gw worked for me for dor.

FWIW, I had <.01 amh at early age 37. One natural child at 35 after years of trying. You just need one egg OP. Are you doing icsi and assisted hatching?

yes to transfer at GW and no to next steps at CCRM. need to do a regroup.

need to stay local. i know CCRM is going to push blast but I'd rather transfer something knowing it has a higher chance than just transfer something on day 2.

If you only have 1 egg, does it matter? Embryos sometimes do better in the body.
