Ouch. Someone's math isn't mathing. |
BRYC RL teams lost to McLean Aspire and SYC Aspire at WAGS. RL is evaporating in NOVA. |
Looks like the first poster was doing all of Aspire which includes NC teams and yours is just VA. |
I think you missed a post where someone went year by year. I also think you can't support your argument by pointing to a few crappy teams in one age group. |
Three points: 1) Notice the trend? RL WAS better and maybe still is at older age groups, not so much for younger. 2) Many RL teams listed are in Southern VA. Have to include NC Aspire teams or exclude VA Reign, RU, Beach, etc., to compare apples to apples. 3) GFR is listed in a number of age groups, but is losing a lot of players for next year to ECNL and GA clubs. |
When you change the criteria then yes it doesn’t math. My post was Aspire as a whole. This just shows the top RL teams. If you want to say the top X RL teams are better than the highest ranked Aspire team I agree. But that still doesn’t make the league as a whole better. |
RL has 19 teams. I pointed out 6 (roughly a third). Seems more than a few. But by your logic then RL can’t be better since you can only name a few (6) teams better than the first Aspire team. |
1) There is no trend, just two outlier SYC teams that have some talent because FVU is full those years. They will probably shed players to ARL and VDA as normal from SYC. 2) OK. But most years have NoVa RL teams and no NoVa aspire teams. 3) Pure speculation my friend. |
You cannot support an argument about overall league competitiveness by pointing to part of one age group. |
The problem with your argument is not just that it relies on unreliable rankings but that it primarily turns on the least meaningful part of those rankings. It is at the top of the rankings where they have the most value, even if they are dubious even there. I might be willing to accept that there is some real, discernable difference between the team on the rankings app ranked 5 in the USA vs the team ranked 25, or between the team ranked 25 and the team ranked 50, or 50 v 100, or 100 v 250, etc. Do I think it's very meaningful? No. In the year I'm most familiar with, 2014G, Richmond Orange 1 has been ranked as high as something like 38 and as low as something like 86 and is currently ranked 72. Do I think these shifts mean anything? No, I just think it means that team is roughly competitive with the teams ranked 35 to 80. But when we are talking about the bottom ranges of the rankings, they don't convey any meaningful information because there is so little information for cross-comparisons and so many very similar teams. So for the range from 1500 to 2500, in my view, that's all one undifferentiated mass separated only by noise. But these are the numbers you are trying to make your case from. If Alexandria 2011 played those six RL teams, maybe it's 3-3, maybe 4-2, 2-4, could be 6-0, 1-5. The rankings don't tell you that much, esp. because even individual games in soccer can be very variable and influenced by random factors. |
I understand you are living in the past, but offers have been made and accepted. RL in NOVA is dwindling down to Arl, VSA and, at some age groups PWSI or VYS. |
You guys aren’t getting this and are being too literal. The kids have to come from somewhere. If you thinking about it, NVA is Loudoun first team, Loudoun ga are second team players etc. This is the reason NVA is higher on probably all tables. Same happens with aspire teams. You get it? |
| What league will RBFC's ulittles compete in? Pre-GA? |
They. Don’t. Have. Any. Teams. 😂 Okay sorry, they have 1. |
The "pathway" will attract families (and their $$! For a badge!) for tryouts, so same question, what league will the little travel players play in? |
