More importantly, no mention in that write-up of either the Indy slasher and/or related head coach - are they both gone? Think folks are underestimating step up from 5A to 6A.

I don’t think there is even a step. Indy’s schedule is so easy. Battlefield makes the state championship almost every year cuz there is no competition in that conference.

I know they graduated all 4 of their starting poles, many of whom had been a mainstay in their defensive unit for years. I have trouble justifying them as the top public school team, just because they are expected to have a high-powered offense.

Within their division, even Yorktown returns effectively their entire offense. An offense that was able to find success in at least one of the games they played against each other last year. So with a defense that has one returning player and a goalie that absolutely have their work cut out for them. Looking forward to the rest of the state, how will they match up against the team that eliminated them last year? Robinson has by far the strongest defense in the state, will the saxons be able to figure them out come playoffs? In this matchup who will shine? The Rams defense against the high-powered saxon offense, or the
young saxon defense against the young rams offense?

A lot on the backs of the Saxon's D1 commits as the Delaware commit and his backup will need to absolutely dominate faceoffs if they wish to win games as they can't expect a sophomore goalie to completely anchor the defense against a strong offense. For the Mercer commit, nothing less than total dominance offensively will be expected of him for the Saxons to maintain their spot as the top dog.

This is a fair concern. Will be similar to the 2022 team. They will need to win 80+% of faceoffs and play a very slow possession game. Even a great goalie can only stop so many point blank shots. Last year the Rams held this high-powered offense to two goals in States.

But the Rams own offense only scored three goals against Langley, and then only two in their season ending loss to Cosby. And the player who scored or assisted most or all of those five goals has graduated. So Robinsons ability to score agains top teams is a question.
That said, I expect Langley and Robinson both to have great seasons and probably play again in States.

A Robinson vs. Langley state final game would be fun to watch. Langleys offense vs. Robinson's defense. I guess we'll all see pretty soon what shakes out when games actually startup.

Well, Robinson scored three goals against Langley's four senior poles, who all graduated. Langley's defense got worse and its offense stayed the same at best. Robinson's offense got worse, defense stayed about the same. I'm going with Yorktown/Indy.

Indy is a safe bet to make the finals since they will need to win just one hard game at most to get there.
I forgot all about Yorktown. They usually get more than their share of hype. Why did MadLax not rank them or even put them on the also considered list?

Maybe, just maybe, they are not as good as you think, until they prove something.

.

I thought the Robinson defense was going to be the defense to beat. Isn’t the goalie a returning all district??

From what I’ve seen. Defense is stout. Goalie is a ? IMHO. It’s Robinson though, I’m sure they will win games and be in the hunt for 6a title.

If Robinson and Langley combined, I bet they would be competitive with programs like Landon and Prep.

I think sometimes these teams combine (like you’re talking about) for NHSLS and do pretty well vs the privates.
