There are no protests?

A healthy democracy will always have protests. If you don't like them, go live in Russia.

Pro-Hamas protests, just to be clear.

You mean we’re supposed to hail Democrat politicians abandoning decorum? Their kids mocking the process by which citizens learn about the candidates? Democrat Dads kissing their daughters as if they’re greeting each other at the porch door rather than modeling this kind of behavior in front of hundreds of millions of people?

I guess you prefer to see GOP Dads groping their daughters on the convention stage?

What people forget is these so-called “GOP Dads” have generated jobs and careers and wealth for so many people. So they have earned the right to take some liberties from time to time, to enjoy the spoils and fruits of their labor so to speak.

It.Is.Packed. Even the nose bleed seats.

One of my family members is working there this week. They said it was crazy loud and nuts, like being at a Bulls game in the Jordan years.

This x 1000. I love living in a democracy.

1. Biden never should have announced the race/sex requirements for his VP pick. If he wanted Harris he should have just picked her and let her merits stand alone. By making that preemptive announcement it put a taint on her that she wasn't necessarily the best person for the job.
2. If Biden was planning to drop out, which I doubt because he fought it tooth and nail, it obviously should have been done much earlier.
3. Once he dropped out and the party decided on Harris, it's time to sell her to the public and that means interviews, public events, press conferences. "She's busy" doesn't cut it.

1) he knew he was going to pick her when he made the statement. He also said Woman, never mentioning race.
2) More likely he timed the dropping out and endorsing Harris for after Trump and Vance were locked in
3) She is running a campaign and being vice president. So far, everything has been executed flawlessly. That speaks more to her executive competence than anything else.

The timing of dropping out was excellent. Trump picked Vance when he was convinced he was running away to a landslide against Biden and they had no chance for a do-over after the GOP convention.

Hope tonights better

I’m hearing “cringy” all over tik tok. Of course, nothing else, just “cringy”. Would you care to elaborate on what made it “cringy”?

I watched and found nothing cringy at all. Maybe it's just a talking point republicans were prepared to blast on social media hoping they could mislead folks who didn't watch?

What's cringy about the married couple talking about their devastation having a miscarriage and then the bleeding wife not being given any medical care due to Trump's policies and judges. I appreciated a man (just like Tim Walz did re: IVF) speaking about how reproductive freedom for women is a man's issue too and will impact men. What's cringey about a young woman explaining how current abortion laws in some states wouldn't have allowed her to get an abortion despite incest when she was raped at 12: "how is it a beautiful thing for a child to give birth to her father's child?"

What was cringy about Warnock's oratory? Or Biden's forceful and emotional speech? Or Jasmine Crockett? Or HRC?

Perhaps they didn't like Harris being humanized by people who've known her for decades? Or Biden being praised by his wife and only surviving daughter?

It appears that some republicans are so used to a diet of cynicism and negativity that genuine joy and hope and unity causes them to cringe. I feel fortunate that I don't feel that way. Several times last night I had to rub tears from my eye or felt genuine happiness and I'm grateful for it.

I agree. And they never said why it was crunchy. I guess it is their talking point.

And? That was his rank in the army.

Are you stupid?

It was not, he retired as a Master Sergeant. You are stupid.

99% of us don’t care or even notice. 🤷 🤷‍♀️

I mean, Melania claims she attended college…and came here legally. You want me to get upset about a job title he held but then didn’t keep because he retired a year “early”?

I do not care

and, he didn't even retire a year early...He retired at 20 years, and came back after 9/11, served 4 more years, and then retired again.

The whole thing is a non-story, particularly as compared to president bone-spurs.

Kamala isn't even at the DNC today. She left for Milwaukee. Is this normal?

I agree.

For those who aren’t going to vote, you have zero say. So just shut up.

The constant lying and gaslighting really take a toll on our collective psyche.

Um, TBH, the convention so far has largely consisted of lying, half-truths, distortion, and gaslighting.

Then there is the pretending that nothing whatsoever going on beyond The Wall Outside the convention center, and a virtual wall of armed riot police.

You are complaining about law enforcement keep the peace?

I’m pro Israel and am grateful that they are able to protest.
