Something like 99% of the delegates are bound by DNC rules to vote for Joe Biden in first round of voting at the Convention. So it’s already Joe Biden’s nomination. The delegates are not free to vote their own choice.

This is why they are trying to publicly pressure him to step down.

Democrats need to get off social media. This is completely an astroturfed pressure campaign. Lots of phony enthusiasm for “replace Joe” by bot accounts.

So what is the end game for Biden staying in? He *hopefully* wins because people so dislike Trump, then if he has to step down after the election, Harris becomes President? It’s clear that he won’t be healthy enough for the next 4 years.

I think that was always the plan. All the polling has been very clear for years. Americans do not want an 86 year old President named Joe Biden. And yet the DNC went all in with Biden regardless of all the red flags. So presumably, the DNC assumed Trump would be an easy win for them. Biden gets in, resigns, Harris becomes President, and it's sunshine and rainbows for the next 8 years.

Now here we are. Democrats looking at catastrophic losses in November. The DNC seems to have forgotten that people don't vote for the VP. They vote for President. And after the debate, it became clear that the presumed Democratic nominee and current President is a feeble geriatric with dementia. There is no possibility of Biden winning now. And the panic has set in.

The original sin was Joe Biden deciding to run for a second term. Everything derives from that utterly reckless decision.

I still don’t believe there will be catastrophic losses. Look at who is on the R ticket, 2 extreme candidates. Extremely unappealing to a large swath of the electorate. Plus the Rs are so overconfident they will win, as I am sure their supporters are. How many of those folks will come out to vote?

After Trump popped up, bloodied from an assassin's bullet, you don't think Republicans will at least show up to vote?

Pritzker?? Because what this country needs is a multibillionaire who inherited all his money and now runs the most indebted, dysfunctional state in the country.

Well he would at least be able to fund the campaign. Maybe that’s what this is all about - not running a campaign to win, but finding someone who can keep the pollsters and campaign staff paid for the next four months, since fundraising has dried up.

The part about the legal challenges is especially worrisome.

And the DNC lawyers had no answers for her as to the legal risk! Insane to even publicly discuss replacing the candidate before identifying the risks and benefits of such a strategy.

They know the answers. They just don't want to share how it will be done.

Lawyer here. No, they don't know the answers. This is uncharted territory.

Rules can be changed and they have a sense as to what those options are.

The only sense I get is that it’s all rigged for Trump. I mean how else can a convicted criminal be on the ballot?

With an open primary utilizing the democratic process. Trump won the republican ticket, that is how.

I understand because your being a democrat this is foreign to you.

um, no. Trump should have never been allowed to run. He committed an insurrection. Immediate disqualification. Amazing how many folks forgot or deny it ever happened in the first place.

The Fourteenth Amendment only applies to other people. Not Trump...

SMH

This should be a headline in every major newspaper every day. Trump should have been disqualified from running. Unfit for office.

It is. That's why people don't care.

If the party didn’t want Bloomberg it doesn’t want Pritzker.

It’s not. That’s the problem, the media has normalized his behavior.

The original sin was selecting a VP who is incapable of taking the reins of the nation should the president become incapacitated, which was more probable than usual due to this president's age. Maybe next time put a little more thought into that choice so you wouldn't be in this mess. And if she is capable, explain why I hear so much about alternative candidates.

Harris is fine to do the job. But the donors don’t want her.

Nevermind that she came in last in the last primary. Other than her skin color, why did Biden even pick her?

The election is still over 3 months away. His base will come out sure. But more complacent voters who lean R, who think Trump has it locked in? I wouldn’t be so sure. And how many new voters will he get compared to 2020? This is the third time his is running. There has to be Trump fatigue.

Nobody on that list has anything close to a national following. Maybe Harris because she is VP but she has not done much to use that platform to her advantage. No, you kind of need a celebrity to step in here if you really want to change the narrative. But how many of them have no major skeletons in the closet or maybe saw what happened to Trump in Butler PA and want no part of it?

I'm liking Buttigieg. Harris no way. I hope they present some choices & don't annoint her.

They appear to have no intention of anointing Harris.

Ds dragged their feet and closed their eyes for too long. It will be Harris.

IMO there’s a lot of runway between now and November. Voters are easily distracted by squirrels. Heck there’s still enough runway for a squirrel to come out before the DNC.

Also don’t underestimate the possibility of a sympathy vote.

Ladies and gentlemen…the next president of the United States…Charles Barkley!

The Trump/Barkley debate would be an all time classic.

Biden is going stay on. He needs to so he can save his family.

If the party didn’t want Bloomberg it doesn’t want Pritzker.

Pritzker is a real Democrat, Bloomberg was a refugee from the Republicans.
