It's true, it's on his Linked In!

His history as a restauranteur is that he owned a fast food franchise in the 70s and 80s, then he worked for a supplier and a gym, and then he worked in "marketing and sales" for a restaurant group. He didn't actually own a nice restaurant, it was "Mr. Quick" or something like that. He's so fake, fake, fake.

I feel bad for all these women who think he's super wealthy -- according to this random internet article, his net worth is $1.5 Million. I'm half his age and my net worth is more than that!!

You don’t have to watch this shit so relax. No one will come to your house and force you to watch the show.
Watch Dancing with the Stars, that is a good freaking show.
Gerry in all his glory will soon be on this show too in a little while.

Sincerely telling women he loved them, only to dump them just a bit later? He should not have done that.

I hear this. But slso, Faith took herself out of the running with that whole “I have to live near my dead horse” thing.

He could love her and still need to cut her if he doesn’t want to live near the dead horse. (Or maybe it’s that she’s Mormon and they used the horse as a veil, who knows.) In fact I think this is why he couldn’t make a decision last episode.

I don't think he comes across as super wealthy just comfortable, which he is. A Leslie, certainly, would enjoy a nice life with him.

Now that we know he wasn't an uber successful guy, but had relatively modest jobs, makes me think he's quite a good fit for Leslie after all. Not at all out of her league, as some were saying.

Except in terms of emotional maturity. He managed to stay married for, what, 30 or 40 years, and she… didn’t.

Do we really think Leslie’s going to give up her attraction to damaged men for this nice, basic guy who’s 10-years older than she is? That it will all work out fine if the guy, the producers, and her brother (!) just make this choice for her? Gary’s got to be wondering about this.

+1. Nobody promoted him as super wealthy. Just that he’s on his own two feet and not one of those “nurse and a purse” older guys with no savings who’s looking for a woman to support him.

The median net worth in the US for his age bracket is ~266K

https://www.cnbc.com/amp/select/average-net-worth-of-americans-ages-65-to-74/

and he lives in Indiana, so it sounds like he is doing more than fine and though no one has characterized him as “super wealthy” he would probably be considered well off by a lot of the female contestants. (He also probably has a much higher quality of life than you if you live in DC or another HCOL area)

"As she expressed on the show, Faith thinks her and Gerry’s contrasting lifestyles — not to mention the fact they live in different states — played a role in the breakup.

“He never brought that up, but I had felt that that might've been,” Faith says. “I remember that night thinking, ‘Oh, should I have done that?’ But, I wouldn't have been being honest had I not said that. He needed to know that because I'm just not the type of person that can see my kids a couple of times a year.”

Faith Martin and Gerry Turner on 'The Golden Bachelor.'. CRAIG SJODIN/ABC
The high school teacher also says she loves to be “outside more than in.”

“The other part of it is, I love to camp and hike and backpack and be on my horses,” she continues. “I'd never played pickleball before. I mean, there's a million reasons that he might've gone, ‘Ah. This isn't really a great fit,’ even though we had a strong connection. As hard as it is for me to take, I feel like it was the best decision that he put me out when he did.”

So she’s devastated but still makes it clear moving is not an option. Cognitive dissonance.

I think he could and did make the decision, it was just hard for him to actually do it (eliminate Faith). I say that because in the clip shown last night Jesse says something like "have you made your decision" and Gerry quickly replies something like "oh I've made my decision." Like it was the decision making that he was struggling with.

I never got the impression that he was super wealthy.

The PP who described Gerry as probably dorky when younger nailed it.

100%

It’s the mouths more than anything!

All of it, the hard glassy faces. No bueno.

Same! The natural faces 100% look better than the weird fake faces.

He never said he was super wealthy. That was all the imagination inside your own head. Don't blame him for your own visualizations that weren't supported by any facts. He has never promoted himself to be something other than what he is.

I'm not really drawn to any particular member of this cast for GB. The reality is that they function best as an ensemble. It's the dynamic between them that makes them so fun to watch.

I agree. The spinoff should involve 8-10 of the ladies matchmaking for each other from a pool of eligible men. Now that would be a blast!

Do we think he winds up with Leslie? I think he’s super attracted to her but not sure it would last.

I'd watch that! Except that setup could really turn into mean girls, if they were all vying for the same 1-2 men and some men had no interest. I don't know of a dating show that looks like that. You'd need something more like Love is Blind, which would be interesting for sure at their ages.
