School shooters existed before TikTok. They existed before school closures. Some come from intact homes with loving families. Your tweet sounds clever, but it's wrong.

School shooters existed before TikTok. They existed before school closures. Some come from intact homes with loving families. Your tweet sounds clever, but it's wrong.

Plenty of school shooters have fathers in the home (see Columbine, the mother of all school shootings). The “fatherless” poster is grasping at straws. Anything but the obvious solution which is that in America it’s easier to get a gun to kill people than a car. Priorities!

NZ's parliament is a single chamber, not two like the US. Sometimes it is called "the fastest law in the west", because the governing party can generally push through whatever it wants. That meant they could react quickly after the Christchurch shooting. Or Australia. Or Scotland. Americans would rather have guns than keep kids safe.

Take the school shooting in Dunblane in Scotland in 1996 - and I deliberately say THE school shooting, as there hasn't been a repeat incident. Seeing 16 elementary school children shot so horrified the nation that within a year both sides were able to come together to agree some common-sense gun laws that permitted hobbyists to enjoy hunting while depriving the streets of massive quantities of hand guns. It isn't perfect, but it means that parents don't fear for their children's lives at school.

Both Klebold and Harris (Columbine) came from homes with fathers in the home, clean and sober mothers, and no tik tok. Harris's father kept a book entitled, "Eric" and was keeping track of his acting out (though the parents later acknowledged privately to the father of another victim that he was likely psychopathic as experts said, but they did not face it). . Neither kid had drugs in their system (Harris had antidepressants in his). They were not the most popular but they were by no means outcasts. Both had attended prom recently with dated. So regarding, "every single one of them" you are wrong.

Increase the legal age of gun sales to 21. There is no 18-year-old that needs to own a weapon.

Or increase the legal age to own a gun to 25. Frontal lobe starts being fully formed then. Too many 16-21 year old men who are so screwed up they shoot up schools and other places. Young men should not ever be allowed near guns.

This has nothing to do with being raised in a fatherless home. Being in a fatherless home is 1000x better than being in a home with an abusive and neglectful father.
