GT/AAP Appeals

It's not. But if the K/1st grade years' GBRS is what some here would perceive as "low" or "lower," it can possibly taint the 2nd grade year's GBRS.

Gifted education services as mandated by the VDOE:

8VAC20-40-40. Screening, referral, identification, and service.

A. Each school division shall establish uniform procedures for screening, referring, identifying, and serving students in kindergarten through twelfth grade who are gifted in general intellectual or specific academic aptitude. If the school division elects to identify students in general intellectual aptitude, it shall provide service options from kindergarten through twelfth grade. Identification in a specific academic aptitude area may occur as assessment instruments exist to support identification. If the school division elects to identify students in one or more selected academic aptitude areas, it shall provide service options through twelfth grade.

Your post makes no sense. I am not suggesting that AAP does not apply across multiple grades. My point is that fact is irrelevent to the context of this thread, and causing confusion and conflict as a result.

I can't tell if you're genuinely trying to be helpful, or just wish to prove yourself right.

If the former: thank you for trying to be helpful. Your contributions are sowing confusion; it might be productive to try to work toward reducing it instead.

If the latter: nobody cares.

uh... yes. Is that a news to anyone? No. Everybody knows there are Level 1 and level 2 services for K and 1st grade. This doesn't prove anything and completly irrelevant to the issue in question.

People don't see contribution from K and 1st grade teachers on GBRS form that is submitted to the AAP Central Selection Committe.

In fact, again the very source you provided confirms that:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gifted Behaviors Rating Scale(GBRS): Administered/Completed by Current classroom teacher and other professionals who work with the student.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now let's move on.

I agree, let's move on. I'm trying (unsuccessfully) to find the post where someone provided the date that appeal letters were received last year. Does anyone know the date?

I third that, let's move on.

One appealer received a letter last year June 18th with good news:

I hope all on this board receive good news. I'm very impressed with the scores posted here. Has anyone come across a posting or anecdote of scores/gbrs combos that were unsuccessful on appeal? It would be nice to get a sense of the lower boundary.

If the appeal is successful, does the school get a letter as well or do we need to call them? Also, if you have an AAP program at your school will you be staying there or going to the center?Just curious as to what your thoughts are. Thanks.

I guess the letter should have some information regarding your options and what you need to do.

Good Luck to all the appealers! Hope your letters come quickly so we can move on and continue to help our children as best we can.
