| Does anyone know any details on the incident that caused DCPS to suspend Springboard before/aftercare programs from all schools next week? Must have been something pretty significant to shutdown all programs district wide. |
| Are they suspended or unfunded? Or were they never planned to run through the last week of school? |
| We got the cryptic email too. We were pretty pleased with Springboard this year. I'm disappointed to see it end so abruptly without getting a chance to thank the aftercare staff. |
| We received the message too (Van Ness) and were told the incident was at another school. Hope the child and the family affected is okay. |
| We received cryptic message too at Brent and were also told it was at another school. |
| I saw the email and hope everyone is okay. I am also curious if the Charter Schools that use Springboard will follow DCPS and suspend their services. |
| We received a message from the Principal at Capitol Hill Montessori where the incident occurred. Apparently, police were involved and the employee was removed from the school. Pray for the families. Also, hope they don’t charge my account 2mrw morning at 3am for next week’s programming. |
Why would all Springboard aftercare be cancelled because of an isolated employee incident at one school? Unless they can't verify that they keep proper credentials/background checks for all, that doesn't make sense. |
see below Dear Capitol Hill Montessori @ Logan Parents and Families, At CHM@L, we are committed to providing a safe and secure learning environment for our students. Communicating home about issues that impact our school community is critical to fostering strong partnerships with families. After receiving a report of alleged misconduct by an employee of after school programming provider Springboard Education in America, we immediately removed the employee from our school and referred the matter to the Metropolitan Police Department. I want to assure you that the safety of our students is our number one priority and that we take all allegations of misconduct very seriously. Out of an abundance of caution, beginning Monday, June 10, Springboard Education in America’s services have been temporarily suspended at all DC Public Schools while we take steps to review Springboard’s compliance with all DCPS requirements. Despite this suspension of service, programming will be provided without interruption by CHM@L and DCPS staff members through next week. It is important to us that our students continue to receive high-quality before and after school care and that this service suspension does not drastically impact our families. Thank you for your continued support. Sincerely, Kim Adutwum Principal, CHM@L |
One reason I can think of is they could have identified an underlying issue with background screening process for employees and found it wasn't adequate so to not risk any more incidents they remove all the employees until they can verify, |
Or if the incident were something very serious. |
| Does anyone at Logan know what happened? |
| Teachers who already have so much to do on the last week of school are now being asked to cover aftercare on top of everything else. Thank your teachers this week everyone! |
Teaching has stopped at this point. |
Sure, but it still makes their work day 2-3 hours longer. I certainly hope they will get paid overtime. |
