You can't explain the "wacky" story because you have no clue what actually happened. The only reason it's gotten so much press is because people hate Tiger for having such a great reputation and would love to see it sullied. If I were you I would ask why you're so invested in what happened considering you'll probably never know. Oh, wait until the National Enquirer or Star tells you that is.

oh c'mon, you can't deny that you wouldn't be curious if a similar story came out about your neighbor, for example. I think people are fascinated because Tiger's always had such a squeaky-clean image; this could be something sordid. I like Tiger, but I admit, I'm curious to see what else comes out!

I don't hate Tiger Woods, wouldn't like to see him screwed up, but I think the whole thing is very intriguing. And I gotta confess that when I first saw the story, the FIRST thing I thought was: He didn't hit the car by accident! He wanted to do it to explain all the bruises. So, I agree with the OP.

I think they had a fight, he left, she chased him, she smashed his window and he crashed the car looking at her in the rear view or something. I think he's having an affair. He's just a flesh and blood person after all. What did Chris Rock say - a man is only as faithful as his options? Tiger has a lot of options....

Curiosity is normal. Embellishing, filling in the blanks with TMZ "facts" is where it gets ridiculous.

OP, don't feel bad! I have been thinking the same thing, and I think your question was just light and kinda funny. I don't wish him anything bad--he wasn't seriously hurt, after all.

Seems obvious something weird happened that night, but who knows. I will be really disappointed for both of them if the rumors are true. I thought Tiger always seemed like someone who had his head on straight.

What drives me crazy when things like this occurs, though, is stuff like this line from an article on CNN:

"Pro golfer Tiger Woods may not want to talk to police about the SUV crash that left him injured, CNN senior legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin says, because something unpleasant or embarrassing might come to light."

Really? We need a legal expert to tell us this he is refusing to talk to the cops because he "might" be hiding something unpleasant or embarrassing? Genius reporting. Thank you Mr. Toobin. When TMZ says it, it's just speculation. When a legal expert at CNN says it, it's "expert legal analysis."

I think they won't answer questions because they don;t need to. They didn't break any laws and he knows his rights. He isn't required to talk to the police as it was nothing more than a fender bender.
Talking would only be to satisfy the curiosity of everyone that just HAS TO KNOW what's going on with his family. And no matter what they say people aren't going to believe it unless it's sordid, so why bother?
