When you list a home for sale regardless of Realtor it appears on Redfin. You can either Favorite or X-out the home from appearing in your searches
An X-out has a negative connotation. When I was selling my home last year I got 2 Favorites and 4 X-Outs. Kinda annoying. I felt why are these people/strangers feel the need to X-out my home. Now my home was my starter home was not the biggest home and I had two bathrooms that were perfectly fine but could be updated. But house was in mint condition and I priced it to sell. And a great location wtih good schools. Sure not everyone may want a smaller house and some folks want all new bathrooms. But my house needed zero things done to house right now, it was move in ready I priced it to reflect updating two new bathrooms down the road and took a bit more off as relocating so needed to sell. Is it just me, but for most folks it is largest asset they are trying to sell. Why go on-line and X out my home? Either favorite it or do nothing. |
I X-outed homes on Redfin when I wanted to "dim" these homes, so I wouldn't click on them again when searching an area on the map. That simple. |
X out means it won't keep appearing in my search history.
The home is not right for *me*. Stop being sensitive, it's a business transaction. |
It's a tracking feature that people can use to remind themselves they already looked at it and decided it wasn't for them. I don't know why you decided to take it personally. |
Gawd I want to go X out a bunch of homes now.
What a cry baby. |
I think people do it so it stops showing up when they scroll through the app. There could be a million reasons why it's not a match for them, but I don't think it's anything personal. |
OP - So a home with 20 X-outs and one Favorite would not make you view house negatively.
But what is point of favoring home?. I mean if it is a great home and I am interested why would I tag that so other folks get interested. Maybe it makes sense to X-Out homes you like so less competition. |
OP, you're taking this too personally. I X-out homes I don't like so they don't appear again. I favorite them so my spouse knows to look at them later in the day when he gets around to it. |
OP, it seems you don't understand how things in Redfin work. This is not like tagging in social media. You tag it so that you can keep it in your favorites list, for your own purposes. |
It's awfully odd that anyone else can see which homes are X-ed out. If it's for one person to customize their search history, why is it visible to anyone else? |
You sold it, right? Why are you still so salty about x-outs? Sometimes I favorite houses that are similar to mine to see what happens to them. I'm not buying or selling any time soon. |

You have clearly never done online dating. You would be shredded after 2 days! |
You’re insane, op. It’s a tool for people to manage their search lists. Favorites and X-outs are neither a compliment or an insult. |
Can people see X-out? I thought it was just a personal tool and not visible like Favorites are? |
