what percent of appeals get in?

if your child didn't make it in initially, what are the chances an appeal works out?

I understand it is a case by case basis... but would be really interested to know something like "only 10% of appeals get accepted" or "50% of appeals get accepted"

60%-70% get in on appeals.

Not true.

I've heard that it's about half of the appeals. Keep in mind, though, that most kids who are rejected don't appeal at all. Those who appeal generally either have a kid who ought to have been accepted first round or they have a high WISC score.

I've also heard that 50% of appeals get in. But the number of appeals is very very low, despite what you see on this forum.

I’ve heard a lot of random stats over the years. Half of AAP kids are in on appeal. This may be half of kids are parent referred.

It seems like a lot of people are getting an IQ test done, considering how busy the GMU assessment program is. I also called a private psychology practice and they said all of their appts. were filled up until the AAP appeal deadline.

Not everyone who gets an iq test appeals though. My friend got one for her dd but ended up not appealing last year because it was too low for admittance she thought.

Based on the posts so far in 2019, it seems like they might get a high volume of appeals this year...

No one but AAP people know because no one know how many people appeal so there is no way to tell what % of appeals are accepted

75% minimum. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was more like 90%.

This suggests 173.7 2nd graders in a year in ALL of FCPS but no one knows how many kids appealed overall. Also, I'm sure kids in upper grades appeal so this is limited to 2nd graders. - https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/education/why-are-black-and-hispanic-students-underrepresented-in-this-northern-virginia-gifted-program/2018/02/03/1c8cd98a-090f-11e8-b48c-b07fea957bd5_story.html?utm_term=.480c8f8a7990

That people say a lot of wrong information about AAP appeals and generally have no idea.
