Bethesda and MD Rush - Girls

Anonymous
A poster on the ECNL thread mentioned some interesting developments brewing between Bethesda and Rush. We have heard other rumblings at the club that some Rush coaches were joining Bethesda, with formal announcements "imminent."
Is there smoke to this fire and, if so, is it just coaches moving over, or is it a bigger development?

A bigger development would make a lot of sense if Rush was unable to join DA or ECNL, as has also been rumored.

You butchered the “where there’s smoke there’s fire” phrase, but we all know what you meant.

I’ve heard similar rumors. It’ll be good for all involved.

RUSH acquired Bethesda, press release coming soon.

Specially in the lower age groups at BSC. They are really struggling. They need to clean house in terms of management. Real shit show on the girls side.

What does this mean for Bethesda ECNL?

OMG. I cannot believe someone fell for that troll job.

We are at Rush, and the club could never acquire a club the size of BSC.

IMO, there is no truth to any of this. This is just people making stuff up before tryouts.

I heard from coaches that the two clubs were talking about partnering / merging somehow. That is all the info I have. Nothing more specific about one acquiring the other, etc. From what I gathered these were early discussions and nothing definitive. It would make a strong club from a player and geo-coverage perspective, but I cannot comment on the admin side of things there. We play against these clubs and see their players and coaches in action, that is all.

A cretain coach is coming over from Rush to coach one or two age groups at the ECNL. The coach coming over has a serious track record and us likely brining his 05 and 06 teams over. I would are that the top eight Rush players on both teams are strong enough to start at Bethesda which means that everyone on both teams will need to fight it out for slots.

This gets to the issue of everyone who believes that all of the coaching and player talent is in the ECNL/DA. Both Rush and Pipeline built teams that can dominate any ECNL/DA team in the region.

There might be some credibility to this as I heard a few BSC coaches are moving/relocating to other states. Hence, BSC hiring coaches away from other clubs in the area makes sense.

I have no insight to partnerships/merges, but if you are really with Rush you should also know that Rush is huge as a parent organization with teams basically in every state.

Stupid question that is only somewhat related - why are they called Rush? I was always curious since, as you said, there are teams in almost every state in their system.

They were originally Nike Rush all across the country. Not sure when that changed, but I'm assuming Nike came up with the name originally.

Which coach from Rush is purportedly coming over?

+1 Each team is run individually under the parent umbrella, it is not a typical club structure. Try outs are for the indiv teams not the club. Some of the age groups have many teams with each team's style/competitive level more determined by the individual coach. There is a very broad range of competitive range, from very competitive to more like a classic + team. Not implying a bad thing - there is a fit for a lot of kids. But a blanket merger would seem unusual. Moving specific teams w/coaches to BSC would not seem unusual - and that has happened in the past with potomac coaches bringing kids.
