Different people respond well or poorly to different coaches. We have good friends whose daughter has played for Meggan for two or three years, and they rave about her. We were hanging out with them over spring break, and they mentioned that they are very sad she is moving away from the area. They think she's done a tremendous amount to improve their daughter's confidence and understanding of the game. Our friends' daughter definitely hasn't lost her love for the game, and from seeing the team running around at SoFive this winter, they seem like a happy and tight group. |
Yeah, some parents are too sensitive, and in reality its the parents that have feelings like that when their kids are perfectly fine and loving it. |
This is very untrue and this poster keeps posting the same false statements a many times against the coaches and parents You can search the forum and find the true story. . Several Fathers were upset last year - feeling that they could coach better than the female coaches and that their daughters were better than placed. They went off and formed their own team that could be “competitive” to “be prepared to play high school and college” as stated in their recruiting letter. They lectured the female bethesda coaches on how to play games more competitive at a U10 level. The kids on the 2008 team are happy kids - and one can see that at games and practices BSC has a lot of great female coaches that many see as a benefit for their girls. It’s a shame someone feels the need to slander an individual coach and the team of coaches . As always, anyone should observe a coach/ coaches at games, practices and make their own assessment. Not an anonymous forum. |
Is it because she treats different players differently? I can see if certain players that has great athleticism, skillsets and/or very coachable, she might treat them better than the others. In any case, I’m sure BSC has to look for a good replacement to ensure continuity of the team. Hence, recruiting coaches from MRM or other surrounding clubs. One thing I noticed is that BSC is good at hiring female coaches for the girl’s team. |
Is Megan the one that had the baby last year? |
| Interesting because many parents would say that new coach coming from Rush has a similar style. |
Kevin is super tough love style- screams a lot, berates, etc but his teams perform and finish on top. But he is taking over for Dave for the 05s I hear so the styles are "similar", though Dave had a sense of dry humor and the girls love him |
yes |
saw her coach last year- screamed the entire time- girls seemed intimidated and beat down during the game |

Wondering about parents' perspectives. Another thread suggests that BSC's home fields at Muldoun Farm are terrible-- my dd wants to try out for Bethesda but has me wondering whether to look elsewhere.
Any parents question playing for Bethesda because of the field situation? |
Only an issue for those U12 and under for regular season play. Roll the dice I guess? |
| Only games are played there- the practices are at other fields. |
| I’ve overseer both Megan and Kevin in action...neither should be coaching young females. Female athletes should 100% be pushed, challenged and held accountable but the berating is only conducive for short term gains. |
| I don't have any daughters so I can't speak to her coaching of the older girls' teams, but we have had Coach Meggan for BSC Juniors (4-7), and she is spectacular IMO. Kind, patient, enthusiastic, and caring. Again, I don't have firsthand experience to refute what you are saying, but I would be quite shocked if it were true. |
U12 will be pre-ECNL and playing same schedule as the U13-U14 ECNL teams. As a result, they will not be playing on Muldoons. |
