COSTCO-Aside from meat, what do you buy and freeze?

Anonymous
So, I realized recently that I can actually buy other items other than meat and freeze them, because there is no way for us to finish a whole cake in one meal, unless there's a party, or finish a whole package of bread before the best before date. So far, I have tried this on bread, belgian waffles, cake, I will try it on croissant( suggested by another poster), cheese that will be used for cooking( or to be melted), rotisserie chicken. I wonder if this works on all the bakery items?

Which items have you bought in bulk and froze for future use? I really like doing this now- it creates less waste, controls our portion size and also save us money.

I think people covered it...
But I’ll raise my hand to add to:
Bread. Whenever we get down to 8 slices of opened bread, you’ll out a new one. Ready in half a day or less.
Shredded cheese. Hmm.. this one barely needs thaw time? I can’t remember.
Choc chip cookies (family of 5, and I think the box contains 29. So I divide into 5s and it gives us a few special dessert nights over time. They thaw in 10m on the counter.

I buy the 8 green peppers or whatever qty it is.. make stuffed green peppers. Cook 4. Freeze 4 (tiightly wrapped in plastic wrap. Then foil. Remove both before cooking.)

Do you use the shredded cheese as toppings or do you melt it? I thought these don't freeze well. I've been wanting to buy these but hesitated because I may not be able to use it for toppings.

I've frozen the french bread and apple pie with success. Many things are suitable for freezing if you defrost and reheat them properly.

Shredded cheddar in the freezer at all times here. We use it as topping for tacos, inside burritos, DC melts it on pasta, etc. Never any issues...

The refrigerated grilled chicken burritos... they freeze well, and make great kids lunches. And my lunch too.

I wouldn't buy stuff just to freeze it. I freeze stuff if I buy it and happen to have too much leftover but unless you live an hour from Costco and can rarely go, simply running over and buying the baguette fresh is going to be better than pulling an old frozen one out. I am also one of those people who absolutely notices a difference between fresh and frozen/thawed so YMMV.

Butter, pesto, shredded cheese, fruit for smoothies, lots of things are useful to have stowed. I only make it to costco 1 per month so I love these ideas. I buy blocks of cheese then shred and freeze. One time I had the most random selection of cheeses (gouda, gruyere, manchego) and I shredded and threw in a bag. When I had time to make mac and cheese, it was phenomenal.
