Alternate vaccination schedule

Anonymous
My DC is on an alternate vaccination scheldue and does not have all of the required vaccinations. Is there a way to still get them into school? I spoke with the pediatrician today and they said that we cannot claim religious exemption because DC is already been partially vaccinated.

+1. Duck now, OP. (Partial) anti-vaxxers won’t be warmly received at many DC schools, I’d imagine.

You can, your dr is misleading you. You don’t have to explain your religious reasons to anyone btw.

+1. Signed from someone who has a partial vacation kid with a religious waiver. When you fill out your waiver, they do not look at history. You could come to religious beliefs now and they can not question that.

Yes cheat the system and expose our kids to deadly diseases.

If you vaccinate your child and whole heartedly believe in the vaccines working why do you care if there is an anti Vaxer among you?

How old is your kid? I'm surprised you even asked your pediatrician about that. I believe you just have to fill the exemption form, get in notarized and submit it. That's what I do in VA for preschool.

I’ll give it a shot. See, there is this thing called herd immunity. Some kids can’t get vaccinated due to medical reasons. When a critical mass of others start to opt out, the entire community no longer is protected by herd immunity, and there can be outbreaks like there have been in several US states and Italy recently due to measles. Infants, medically fragile people, etc. can get sick and even die due to the actions of people who chose not to vaccinate because they believe Jenny McCarthy over the medical community.

I can’t believe I’m explaining this to an adult, on a site with a reputation for educated users.

if you had a legitamite reason for the delayed schedule you wouldn’t need to ask in this board. Don’t put your kids in school until you get them properly vaccinated.

Not vaccinating, on purpose, has caused so much damage. It’s a disgrace.

The last thing they will do is try to dispute/evaluate your claimed religious beliefs. And why would you take legal/religious advice from a doctor? What he told you has nothing to do with medicine or his area of expertise.

Having said all that, vaccinate your kid before getting him and others sick with completely preventable diseases.
