DC Public and Public Charter Schools
| Why can't you just get them all in by K? We did a slowed down schedule but had them all done by the start of K/age 5. We signed the religious waiver for preschool no issue and just turned in a new vaccination recored each time more shots were given. No big deal. |
herd immunity. look it up! vaccines only work at the rate we have come to enjoy for the 50 years because the vast majority of people are vaccinated. every non-vaccinated person puts everyone else the come in contact with a a MUCH higher risk. baring medical necessity there is not reason to put other kids at risk. anti-vaxers put not only their own but everyone else around them at risk, especially those with immune system issues or weakness. all you have to do is look up all the current outbreaks.. and check out what polio did not that long ago.. or the lines people in other countries stand in for vaccines. I would not want a non-vaccinated kid in class with my kid and would certainly limit my child's exposure to a non-vaccinated kid as much as possible. I wish schools would eliminate all but medical reasons for the vaccine waivers. |
No big deal? You think kids can only pass sickness in an elementary school? Sure, go ahead and expose even younger and more funerals children. This makes absolutely no sense. |
We do as of a year ago. Thanks. |
Where did you find a copy of the waiver? |
Its not going to hurt other kids if my child's is delayed by a few months and spread out. However, it can hurt my child who has been hospitalized with extremely high fevers and other issues. I'm sure your little snowflake who is fully vaccinated will be fine. I would prefer mine not have that funeral you are talking about but clearly its ok with you if mine dies for our selfish inappropriate concerns. |
If you have such great faith in vaccines, your child will be fine so its a non-issue. |
Are you OP? If so, you said you are on a delayed schedule, meaning you haven't gotten to a mandatory vaccine yet. Assuming you intend to do it when you feel is appropriate, you don't have a religious objection. You will get away with it if you claim a religious exemption, but be honest with yourself and an anonymous message board and acknowledge that is not your true motivation. |
Did you even read what PP wrote? Faith in vaccines is why people are so adamant about stopping BS excuses to get out of them. People who medically can't get a vaccine in particular need the advantage of herd immunity that you and your ilk are messing up after years of near complete containment in the US. |
I'm not PP, but if you google it you'll find easily. |

Vaccines are a little less than 100% effective, so we need everyone who can be vaccinated to protect those few percent who can't be vaccinated and those few percent for whom the vaccine doesn't provide 100% immunity. That is the concept of herd immunity. When the overall rate falls below the required herd immunity rate, we start to see epidemics like those in Rockland County and Europe. If your child has a real medical reason not to be vaccinated, your doctor would just give you a medical exemption. The fact that he/she hasn't suggests that there isn't a medical justification. |
Your personal belief is not to vaccinate. My personal belief is that not vaccinating without a medical reason not to is medical neglect. It is often symptomatic of other forms of child abuse and neglect. I think you should have a CPS case opened for you and I definitely don’t want your kid around my kid, who had an infant sister who is too young to be vaccinated yet. You anti-vacation child abuswrs always say that if our kids are vaccinated, we shouldn’t feel threatened by an unvaccinated child, but you never address concerns about siblings who are too young to be vaccinated or medically fragile relatives or any of the other people to whom your unvaccinated child is dangerous. If you want to use public goods like public schools and herd immunity, you need to be more considerate of everyone’s needs. And if you’re not, I’m fine with you ending up on the child abuse registry. |
Bingo. If there is a medical reason for a delayed schedule get it from your doctor. If not don’t go to public school. Homeschooling is a good option. Apply to Friendship online for a curriculum |
Np here. For all of the reasons you stated, I do not discuss vaccination status with a soul other than the pediatrician. And folks know none the better. |
