Where did you absolutely hate?

I went to Las Vegas once and did not like it at all. Crowded and soul-less

Curious why you didn't like these countries.

I spent a number of years living and working in Macedonia, and really enjoyed it. Friendly people and great food, and beautiful natural scenery.

I would never go back to Vegas.
Hated Italy. It seemed as if they’re sick of Americans.

Just curious, for those saying that Florida isn’t bad, what parts of Florida would you recommend? If not Miami or Orlando or the keys, then where exactly?

What vacation would you do for a long weekend or even a week?

I’ve been to many places & the only 2 I can’t wait to leave are NYC & Los Angeles. It’s horrible that most foreigners probably have these two dumps at the top of their itineraries.

You go there for other things, not elbow room & sincerity.

Depends on what you like. You could just do national parks (south Florida has three) and outdoor activities, springs further north, see manatees and the most amazing bird diversity. You could have a refined old Florida time at the Biltmore in Coral Gables, go to Palm Beach, stay at the breakers, go to the Norton museum. You could go to Kennedy space center and travel up to Saint Augustine for a quiet beach experience, Amelia island…

I was in Jakarta last week and did not enjoy it. The air pollution is terrible, it is dirty, people were scammy (not as aggressively so as India and Pakistan, nor as filthy, so Pak and India do remain my least favorite of places I've visited) and the traffic is overwhelming and headache-inducing.

To inject a little positivity into the thread, I was in Kuala Lumpur last month and really enjoyed it.

Agree. And I loved Romania too— the carpathians are stunning. Bulgaria wasn’t quite as fun, though.

Loved Romania, too! The friendliest people I’ve ever met.

Most tourists like one of two things: national parks/beaches or cities. NY and LA have the most things to do for tourists, plus LA has some decent beaches.

you literally picked the two worst places in FL to visit so you shouldn't write the whole state off based on that!

dp. I hated all of FL, from the Keys to Palm Beach.

FL was the worse vacation I've ever had. I was miserable and didn't enjoy any of the area. Even the beaches sucked because of all the sargassum seaweed.

I have been to the Caribbean (including going through a hurricane), Europe, Asia, and several states. FL was the worst. Never going there again unless I absolutely have to.

Doesn't really make much sense. Maybe you had some specific bad experiences. Many areas of Florida are nicer than Bahamas for instance.

"Even the beaches sucked because of all the sargassum seaweed." - this was in the summer, but the seaweed pile seems to start in the spring now.

I grew up in Orlando and the only reason to go there is for the theme parks.

Check out Ft. Lauderdale over Miami. The latter has a much more vapid spring break-y culture. Ft. Lauderdale still have lots of restaurants and nightlife, but less rowdy in my opinion. And if you want even quieter then check out a place like Vero Beach.

LOVE the keys. Key West is unlike anything else in FL. Definitely give it a try.
