YNT Identification Center

Anonymous
What is it? How do kids get selected? Is it meaningful for actual YNTs or for college recruiting?

It is an opportunity for the area US Soccer scout (who is a parent at a local DA) to invite her daughter and her daughter’s friends out to scrimmage eachother. It is supposed to be the first step on the ynt path but it is not in NOVA. Your DD will need to play in the big showcases and tournaments to get into a ynt if she lives in nova. It does nothing for college recruiting.

US Soccer will not publish a list of invitees. This lack of transparency allows for corruption. I once saw the list from a parent bragging on Instagram and nearly fell out of my seat. The list was comprised of some really good players that deserved the invite and some obvious political appointees.

Her mom showed me because of the obvious “mistakes.”

Let’s play a game. How about we put the names of the players that were more deserving since everyone has national team players in their household?

Surely there are some players on the list who are not politically motivated choices.

Surly that was already said. We are not talking about the kids who have the earned their spots

It starts younger than that, long before the YNT id centers, the politics.

Our YNT teams and scouts have failed miserably. The whole system needs transparency.

"Failure at the U20 Women’s World Cup is a symptom of bigger YNT problems. The US women’s youth national teams are not being set up to succeed"

"So there is an ongoing, multi-cycle pattern of performance problems in the YNTs. That’s obviously concerning in itself. But what is more worrisome is that these problems may reflect deliberate philosophical and stylistic choices made by those in charge of the program—choices that can be seen in which types of players are, and are not, called up to the YNTs and rostered for World Cups."

Looks like this is a case of the jealous parent. Get your facts straight before starting a newly open forum for attacking purposes.

Which part of that isn’t true? Not PP here. Anyone that knows the scout knows this is true.

If scouts keep pushing kids that are busts at a camp, or kids that can’t get selected to a camp then they are essentially the boy who cries wolf about kids.
