Male student shoved into locker at Tilden Middle School

Anonymous
My son is in the sixth grade at Tilden Middle School. Yesterday he told me the ambulance was called to the school Monday after a 13-year-old boy was placed in a locker.

Has anyone heard anything more about this? I'm concerned it could be bullying.

Ambulance? That sounds serious. There shoudl be a record of this.

It COULD be bullying? I mean, if the kid was hurt enough to need an ambulance rather than the school called it to CYA, then it's definitely bullying.

But this reminds me that in 6th grade, a boy gave DD a black eye with the corner of his locker and he apologized instantly, she forgave him instantly, and the school STILL called me to say "Now we don't want you to panic, but when you see DD ..."

That was the day I told her, "Problems are not solved with ice cream; do you understand me?" and after she nodded I said, "But a black eye deserves some ice cream - let's go!" and she laughed.

I think this requires more information.

"Placed" in a locker? Or pushed.

Was he hurt? Is this a one off incident?

Your example sounds like a complete accident. Of course they called to tell you your kid had a black eye. What problem was there to solve with ice cream? Your tone makes it seem like it was more than an accident.

He could have asphyxiated, poor child! Thank goodness an ambulance was called.

Oh man, that poor kid. I hope he’s okay. I think that could be considered an assault and the perpetrators could be in serious trouble, especially if the victim needed an ambulance.

Must need a tetanus shot after that.

When I was in middle school in the 80s, "some kid being stuffed in a locker" was just another Wednesday.

We are raising a generation of pussies. Not the kids but the parents who think this is a big deal.

No he couldn’t have. All lockers have vents to let air.

Right?
And in my high school I remember "Freshman rush" where if freshman walked down the hallway where the senior lockers were, the senior boys who were lined up opposite the lockers would body slam them into said lockers. Closed of course, but still.

Oh, and the time a bunch of seniors kidnapped two hated freshman and drove them out to the local tv station and dumped them, leaving them to walk a few miles back to school.

No - being an asshole that bullies others is always classless and wrong - and learn to spell!
