| Is Fairfax County finally going to be completely controlled by Democrats? Tim Hugo is the only Republican left representing this area in Richmond, and he nearly lost 2 years ago. Sperling seems like she will give Herrity a run for his money and Schultz on the school board...well she has been MIA for a while and prob wont run for reelection. There are several Democrats waiting in the wings to take that seat it seems... |

I live in the Springfield District (Burke, but not Burke Centre) and I haven’t had any good interactions woth Herrity’s office. I have called a few times for help with various things - once it was speed bump related, once it was something seemingly sketchy going on in my neighborhood that I had a concerns about. I got no call back once, the other time a “sorry we can’t help you”. Coming from Burke Centre, which is in the Braddock District, that was surprising since John Cook’s office went above and beyond to help even if it wasn’t something the Supervisors office was directly responsible for. I called them once about a pothole because I kept submitting one into that online website to report stuff and it was never fixed. Like a huge pothole that could damage someone’s car if they hit it the wrong way. Someone from Cook’s office came out to check it out and then made sure someone w VDOT was aware of the problem. And then followed up with me to make sure it was handled. |

Schultz was at a School Board work session on 3/11. Many Democratic voters will be unhappy with the next BOS and School Board as they lurch further left. Fairfax has enjoyed moderate Democratic leadership for years, but many of the people seeking the Democratic nominations or endorsements for BOS/SB positions are Bernie Sanders/AOC types. If they get their way, taxes will increase, lots of subsidized housing will get built, and school boundaries will be cannibalized so every middle and high school has similar FARMS percentages. While that may sound good to many in principle, once it starts being implemented people will take their marbles and flee the county. And then all the shiny redevelopment plans for Tysons, Route 1, etc. will come to a crashing halt. |

It has been controlled by Democrats for years. Subsidized housing? I'm fine with that if the adults are US citizens and were not anchors. Like the grandparents housing in DC. Rational democrats are stifled. I do wonder what tune Hawaii's Hirono, Illinois' Durbin et al would be singng if their constituents were bearing the costs. Imagine the mouth of Rep Ilhan Omar [or Tahib] if her district got massive Central Americans from irregular migration and it caused property tax increases. I do think the world would hear about it and she'd be asking for federal money. Just the tip of the iceberg on what drives the FCPS budget as it deals with the demographics. FCPS has a laptop program [trial at Chantilly] with a new budget item at 4 million. As that rolls out all students in middle and high school in the entire county will be issued a $400 laptop. There is an increase in World Languages which really means pumping more money into what otherwise would be called ESOL - target language Spanish. Population- result of irregular migration from Central America. Feds and state don't pay for it - local property tax funded. Down to capacity and debt transfer for bond repayment. |

I live in Springfield district and am friends with all the Dems running for BOS and SB. Part of the district committee, so in full disclusure, I’m rather committed to getting Dems elected. I will say that I like all 3 of our current candidates as people and know they care very deeply about this community. They are good, kind hearted people who want to make life better for our citizens.
I also know the Sully Dem SB candidate as a personal friend. She is absolutely amazing as a person. Smart as a whip. Really knows her stuff. And I met her through being a fellow parent at our elementary school. She really can do it all. |

I can actually appreciate those kinds of Dems who actually have to run well in competitive districts The problem happens when you have one party rule and any idiot with a d next to their name can win regardless of competency see what's happened on school board for example |

Did you even read his statements? Did you see his past activities that he sponsored? Leading a boycott against HP because they do business with Israel. (You do know that HP has lots of employees in Virginia---in fact, I'm pretty sure some of their offices are in HD-86). Virginia also does business with Israel--yet, our new delegate supports BDS. Do you support the Muslim Brotherhood? Do you think it is appropriate that a delegate to the Virginia House protested with them in Egypt? Do you think it is appropriate for a delegate to the Virginia House to see his purpose as vengeance to those who killed protesters in Egypt? |
