+1--another one. However, I think the title of the thread refers to 100% blue in elected office, and we are getting there pretty fast. |
| I'm getting concerned that Jeff McKay may not get nominated for the chairman position. He is one of the classiest people I've met and such a level headed person. And he's a democrat who has put in his time to learn the issues. Is anyone else concerned? How can we at least make sure this highly qualified person gets put at the head of the local government? |
Contribute to his campaign and let him know he should run as an independent if he doesn't win the primary. Plerhoples entered the race based on a calculation that, even though she was largely unknown and had never held electoral office before, she could win a Democratic primary in 2019 against three white men. |
Is there a regular primary? Will there be a runoff or does the selection go to the person with the most votes? This is how the Dems ended up with the nominee for House 86. |
Don't disagree but I also don't really see McKay's campaign doing much proactively. Maybe they just aren't present in our more liberal district. |
I guess I think he will get it and I am not concerned, but I suppose I don't really know. Can you still join the Fairfax Democrats so you can vote for him in the primary? |
This is discussed upthread but I believe the "primary" is voting by members of the Fairfax democrats. |
| Good idea. Think I will join. Hope others do too. |
I hate to do this since I'm an independent, but am wary of an independent getting elected. |
The Dem prinary (for Chair and other districts that have a primary) will be on June 11 at your normal polling place. Anyone who is a registered voter can vote, not just members of Fairfax Drmocrats. Its the school board “primary” elections (endorsements) that are only for party members. |
And the Democrats seeking those endorsements are going to do an enormous amount of harm to the county. They are a combination of lazy, stupid, and highly partisan. |
| Ok, I won’t refute the charge of partisanship, but I know 3 of the school board candidates personally and would never describe them as lazy or stupid. They are incredibly hard working and dedicated people. And I enjoy talking to them as they are bright and thoughtful people who do a lot of research before forming opinions on topics. |
Thank you for this information. |
They are stupid in the sense that they are pushing policies that will be the demise of the county's wealth and prosperity, and ultimately a harm to the kids they think they are protecting with their 'do-good' philosophies. And they are lazy for simply buying into political hype and talking points rather than actually digging into pros and cons. |
Correct. 100% Correct. |
