Janie and Jack going out of business

Anonymous
I happened to run into Janie and Jack yesterday and was surprised to find that they are now going out of business along with Gymboree. The sales lady said they had a buyer for Janie and Jack but the deal fell through this week, so they are now headed out of business. Entire store was 25% off, and honestly, I didn’t find anything great. Prices are still steep there even with that discount.

But I did want to share that the sales lady told me she thinks gift cards and merchandise credits will not be honored after this weekend. She said they were not allowed to state this on their signage, but that is her understanding.

A store that sells $150 toddler dresses is going out of business? Shocked!

Oh no! I love J&J!

I loved that store. I only have boys and cute clothes were hard to find in the 90’s.

Aww, I still have the little fuzzy suit from J&J that someone gave me to bring my preemie home from the hospital.

Their stuff was really beautiful. Reminded me a bit of Spanish children’s clothes.

I love their clothes. The only clothes I can find that are more traditional. I hate having to go to boutiques

The company is owned by Gymboree. Boy they really hoodwinked you with those prices lol

Wrong.
Parent companies in different types of businesses often have an average quality brand, and a higher quality brand. Take cars, for instance: Toyota and Lexus. You may not know much about seams, cuts and design, but J&J is better made than Gymboree.
I'm NOT saying the actual prices are justified. I'm saying that some interval of price differential is justified between the two brands because of the way they're made.

There isn’t a single news story about this anywhere and all the previous Gymboree stories indicated that J&J was up for sale/not closing right away. I’m pretty sure the business media would know about this before a random clerk at a random store.

The quality of the clothes from J&J is wonderful. If you buy online during their sales you can get great deals. I’m very upset to see them go.

I love their boys clothes. If this is true, I am very disappointed. I have three boys and the clothing lasts and looks great after being passed down three times.
