"HRCS" parents-- are you playing the lottery?

Anonymous
Lottery season is coming-- who is playing to trade up?

We are happy where we are, but hoping to get a top5% number to get into a Hardy/Deal-Wilson feeder. Our kids are in 3rd and 1st. What are the chances OOB feeders will be eliminated?

Are you playing or staying?

Not playing lottery but going to IB.

Not playing. Happy where we are. Don’t believe the grass is actually greener.

We are not. Happy where we are.

NP. Then why say moving up? No dog in fight, but we’ve had 3 friends leave a good school for MV and all 3 have regretted it.

I guess because it is "up" in his view. I am kinda not into it. Sometimes the spousal agreement is the hardest part of the lottery.

+1 on spousal agreement! Not to derail the thread but managing expectations around child's education can be equally hard as money issues, domestic chores, etc!

re: lottery, we are also at ITS and staying put. Our kid is happy, healthy and enjoys going to school. I think I've finally figured out that that combo (happy, healthy, enjoyment) is the greenest grass. It happens in lots of different schools, and lots of different scenarios, and if you get there with your kid enjoy that ride as long as it lasts!

PP, how do you feel about the middle school and what happens for high school if you don't get into an application school?

HRCS people. Always about trading up. DCPS EOTP like me-gonna keep my little house and my just-fine school for my kids. And life is going to be great.

PK3 at LAMB. Really like the school. It hasn't been a perfect half-year, but we are staying next year and are NOT entering the lottery.

Doing the lottery because of commute. Not sure if we would actually take the spot though. Otherwise happy where we are but a good commute is a big plus right?
