| Subject pretty much says it all. I am fairly certain my DC is a communist, they read communist literature, defend socialist ideas in arguments, and has a strong interest in history, especially the history of revolutions. I'm not a communist and am worried this will be problematic. Is this legal? Potentially damaging to their future prospects? Should I be taking any action? |
| LOL it is easy being a commie when - like children - other people do the work and all you do is spend their money. |
|
Yes, it is legal.
Yes, it might be damaging to his/her future prospects depending on a multitude of factors. Yes, you should have open conversations with DC about his/her politics that are calm, respectful, and not hysterical. Remember that if you push too hard against DC’s ideas, DC will dig into them even more. Make an effort to understand and create a foundation to respectfully challenges DC’s politics. |
| 911. Now. |
| You can't defend socialist ideas in arguments. |
oh for lord's sake. It's a political philosophy, not a disease. It will not damage DC's future unless she is looking for a job with the Heritage Foundation. |
| Invite him to come speak with my husband. Or anyone else who survived-- yes SURVIVED-- real communism. |
|
| Is this a troll post? My 13yo DS is a total commie and I am so proud of him for thinking so critically about economic systems at that age. He still likes his Nikes and Xbox though. |
| Most people grow out of it. I bet your child will as well. |
| By US standards, a 'communist' is probably a socialist or a liberal in many other parts of the world. |
| If he liked the Communist Manifesto, The Prince is about the same length. |
True, that word makes my mind jump to a specific view that I’m sure varies wildly among the public. I might think modern Finland and others think 70s China and still others to Stalinist Russia. |
As long as child isn’t putting it out there on the internet to come back and haunt him later, totally agree. |
| Lots of kids think they are Commies. They will change their tune once they start working and realize what it's all about. Just laugh at DC! |
