Anyone has any insight? We have a good friend that will be working there and talks very highly of the school. We are looking into applying for K. We have applied to some of the famous private’s already and our public school is not an option. We love the idea since we are a very international family and my kids speak 3 languages and spend a considerable amount of time (summer and winter break) abroad.
I know they supposedly have very good teachers (“stolen” from Sidwell, Maret, Cathedral schools, etc), but I am a bit uncomfortable with no history and not being able to visit a typical K classroom. Does anyone have any insight? |
I wouldn’t make my kid a guinea pig, I will say that. |
Oh, it's for-profit? No good school is for profit. Hard pass. |
Not sure whoch teachers from Big 3 jump ship but to go from a legacy school to a no name brand new school is a leap of faith, if you ask me! What happens if the school fails...take a look at BASIS McLean. There has been more turnover at that school than McDonalds! |
My insight is that your marketing department isn't fooling anyone. Thanks for the lulz. |
No teacher would do this unless s/he was already being let go. |
OP here. I am not working for the school. We have not even applied (though we have already applied to 4 other schools).
I was wondering if anyone here had any insights about curriculum, guarantees that the school will succeed (stay open), etc. I haven’t heard of anyone applying |
OP here. From what our friend says this is not true.... but maybe she is trying to sell the school a bit |
They were probably offered a lot more money. |
I know someone who attended one of the information sessions and was struck with the fact that the school could not answer some basic questions about the curriculum being offered, accreditation plans and even what type of diploma would be offered (considering its international push). The session was heavy on marketing of the bells and whistles (campuses in China, campus here in DC, study abroad opportunities, etc) and rather light on specifics related to the education of the students.
To be fair, things may have been solidified since this session as it was some time ago, but those are red flags. And honestly, I do hope the school becomes successful, but I would be weary of jumping into the hype before it is proven. You also need to read up on the track record of the founder...it's not all great. |
Of course they are going to talk highly of the school. They are being paid to work there. But currently, there are no students and no curriculum. Go for it and let us know how it goes. |
I know they have already seriously pissed off the neighbors by performing loud construction work in the middle of the night. Apparently the police have been called on a couple of occasions to put a stop to it. My guess is they will just pay any fines and keep on with it anyway. They seem to have unlimited amounts of cash |
That’s what they did in Hong Kong and Shenzhen when opening that branch. They raided the top schools for teachers and threw money at them. |
