What planet are you from?

GA is 100x better than any leagues second teams.

The ECNL koolaid is strong today.

Here's the order.

Div 1 - MLSN GA ECNL Girls (some NPL)
Div 2 - ECNL boys ECRL DPL NPL

If ECNL boys isn’t d1, neither is GA.

lol GA Is proven to send a ton of kids to college…great programs at that.

Boys ECNL……L O L

I can play with stats to.

it unfortunately is a product of the transfer portal. has nothing to do specifically with ECNL player or GA player. this has to do with D1 and going to a college team where everybody is really good and you are having to compete more. kids don't want to sit so they transfer. pretty common sense. happens in D1 basketball and football now with the transfer portal.

That is right. And also because college coaches are often chameleons. They promise the moon the get the kids they want with no intention of keeping the promises they make. Often showing very different sides of their personalities once you’re on team, Jeckle and Hyde. And then lastly the adjustment of being away from home and the support / accountability network they had for many years leading up to college sort of evaporates, leading to a lot of first year college athletes not being match fit by the end of their freshman year, necessitating a transfer in order to pay for school.

I have found very few coaches in soccer at all level that have high character and are good honest people. It must be a soccer thing?

This is why I really question why everyone is so quick to be like ECNL is second tier boys league. Second tier to pro MLS Academies? Of course. But if you’re not signed to a pro club then I think MLS next/ECNL is 6 of one half dozen of another.

Are we really discussing “rankings” from a random website? No wonder this forum has gone on for 520 pages.

Has anyone heard anything specific from any league as to what they’re going to do for 26? The three recommendations by US soccer seem to be just that, recommendations. Even though I believe all the majors will pick the same one. Anything of substance from higher ups at ECNL, GA, MLSN, etc.? Or just something someone cousin who is a director believes?

Until we get official announcements from governing bodies it’s all just rumors.

Most people thought the mandate would change back to SY as that’s what the rumor mill was pushing but I always heard MLS and their influence on youth soccer was strongly against it. Along with many club directors not wanting to deal with the headache. This is how we ended up at you can do what you want.

The same person who told me about all this months ago and basically called his shot about this is saying the big 3 USYS, US Club, AYSO will goto school year. Sounds like some states will have different cutoffs because when they start school.

Also non state and national level tournaments and showcases will have different rules to allow cross state play to continue.

MLSN and GA partnered together to have a pathway for BY they way add in younger aged pre level leagues as well. U11/12.

US club will go SY and will probably choose 9/1 cutoffs with waiver system for August kids if they are in the same grade.

He isn’t sure how much of this will happen he said there are many things being discussed at this point and they have 60 days to put a plan together and agree on how it should be rolled out.

The net affect is if some leagues go SY and others stay BY there will be MUCH less cross league tournament participation.

Also there's a very good chance that littles BY league starts up to funnel players into BY leagues.

Because those websites are ran by ECNL friendly people. Plenty of folks and forums that can back me up.

Also, why don’t you pull up the college placements and National team #s on the boys side, let’s see how ECNL compares to mls next then

So, this will be a small sample size. Four top 10 NCAA D1 teams. Note: MLS Academy are combined with MLS Next (one could argue they are not quite the same).

#1 Vermont: 28 players
Foreign = 12
MLS Next/Academy = 7
ECNL = 4
Other or Unknown = 5

#3 Ohio St: 27 players
Foreign = 9
MLS Next/Academy = 9
ECNL = 7
Other or Unknown = 2

#5 Pitt: 29 players
Foreign = 14
MLS Next/Academy = 11
ECNL = 3
Other or Unknown = 1

#7 SMU: 34 players
Foreign = 9
MLS Next/Academy = 9
ECNL = 13
Other or Unknown = 3

Total: 118 players
Foreign = 44
MLS Next/Academy = 36
ECNL = 27
Other or Unknown = 11

ECNL Boys Clubs = 147
MLS Next/Academy teams = 150

Based on this small sample size, MLSNext is slightly superior to ECNL, but not by a huge margin.

Interesting. So while the numbers aren't broken out, seems pretty clear the ECNL boys are above MLS Next non-Academy in multiple metrics.

Aren’t there many more ECNL teams/players than MLSN? Bigger numerator over a smaller denominator would suggest MLSN is far ahead.

What about ODP (USYS) and id2 (USCS)?

Will they follow SY or BY?
