Not only the teammates that get benched so an older kid can play down. Also the other team would lose because an older kid is playing down.

And finals seeding is determined by showcase wins and losses.

I hope ECNL does allow GY at showcases. But only because I know it will cause insane chaos and I want to see ECNL fail.
Idk, pretty vocal crew of birth year defenders saying players bumping down to their school grade doesn't make them better players so it would be hypocritical for those folks to complain.

Most of the BY people are GA.

Again I hope ECNL implements GY. Just to watch all the ECNL hats go insane.
You have ECNL envy while ECNL folks don't notice GA exists. Also your allegiance to GA as a parent is just weird. Why would a parent care about league competition? And any proof that most of the NY people are GA, especially considering GA is such a small part of youth soccer.

Hahahahahaha...
Nope, no dog in the fight.

Ironic that you are stumping for GA while criticizing people for feeling like they represent ECNL. They are all just alphabet soups for kids to play soccer at and nobody will remember them as a new cycle comes in about a decade from now.

The system could be a lot better, but at least I'd say having many travel choices/pathways for your kid is good. In our area, we have both top programs from ECNL, GA and USYS and there are only so many roster spots at the best clubs. That said, I do wish it wasn't so confusing and it'd be cool if there ever was a unified national youth championship.

I think honestly they all need to merge into 1 structure

Div 1 - ECNL
Div 2 - ECNL RL
Div 3 - GA
Div 4 - NPL/DPL

then have an advancement, relegation

What planet are you from?

GA is 100x better than any leagues second teams.

The ECNL koolaid is strong today.

dad, I want to play in the league that I will have the best chance to play D1 ball. ok babes lets look at the facts:

2025 Recruiting Class
ECNL/RL - 1447 (66%)
GA - 437 (20%)
Other - 177 (8%)
International 141 - (6%)

well babes, lets go with the poster above who says GA will get you there and forget about ECNL.

This is not responsive to what PP wrote. Break out ECNRL from the 66% and compare that to GA, and you’ll be responsive. I don’t know the numbers, but I’d be shocked if 20% came from RL.

More girls ECNL players hit the transfer portal in their first year than any other league.

Also more former girls ECNL players quit playing in college than any other league.

I can play with stats to.

it unfortunately is a product of the transfer portal. has nothing to do specifically with ECNL player or GA player. this has to do with D1 and going to a college team where everybody is really good and you are having to compete more. kids don't want to sit so they transfer. pretty common sense. happens in D1 basketball and football now with the transfer portal.

If ECNL boys isn’t d1, neither is GA.

These things are super local too. Where I am the MLS Next non academy teams suck. High school soccer is king, all the best non academy boys, which after they drop the radius rules at U15 is basically every local boy, is playing ECNL.

That is right. And also because college coaches are often chameleons. They promise the moon the get the kids they want with no intention of keeping the promises they make. Often showing very different sides of their personalities once you’re on team, Jeckle and Hyde. And then lastly the adjustment of being away from home and the support / accountability network they had for many years leading up to college sort of evaporates, leading to a lot of first year college athletes not being match fit by the end of their freshman year, necessitating a transfer in order to pay for school.
