Yes. It’s constant. Every single day. Sometimes multiple times a day. Do other Influencers do it that much?? |
I get that she's a single mom & that promoting products earns her money but didn't she write several books that are all about "Why do we pursue more when we'd be happier with less?". It seems like a contradiction to encourage people to buy a bunch of stuff they don't need & then write about being happier living without excess. |
I am a huge fan of Jen Hatmaker , but I agree, this is getting ridiculous. I just can’t take her seriously anymore. I know she’s going through a tough time but the constant selling is a huge turn off. |
That is great point. It's utterly ridiculous to on one hand promote a message of Less Is More and Say No To Materialism then on the other hand immediately pivot into Hey, Here Are A Million Things You Just Have To Have!. The cognitive dissonance is insane. On some level it must bother her as she's a thoughtful person but I think the desire for money quickly outweighs this small voice. Gotts get that money! |
It would have been different if she had addressed the issue, like, “Since 7 was written and released, I’ve relaxed my views on consumerism/materialism….blah blah, blah.” Instead she RE-RELEASED it and called it Simple & Free - AND continued trying to sell junk to all of us. Amazing! |
I had to unfollow after the husband supper club post. Post-divorce she is such a pick me.
The boys think the divorce is stupid and want to see MEEEEEEEEEE. I sat next to them so we could talk important man things like business and strategy and football because I'm not like regular girls. How do any of her friends put up with this weird narcissism? |
Her MOTHER posted on Facebook that Jen begged her to come on the trip and then made her sit in coach while she was in first class. What a B. |
Her “I’m sooooooo AMAZING!” attitude is going to lead to a Rachel Hollis “toilet” moment soon….. |
The once well known "frugal mama" from the dc area talked about this conflict many years back; How do you write about and endorse simpler, more frugal living with any integrity while promoting a bunch of "crap" (my word) that you don't really use, to your readers? She acknowledged she couldn't and took the hit of lowered revenue. In other words, she had some integrity. |
Yep. |
And now she’s hired a professional home stager so she can flaunt her wealth. Grr. She’s awful. |
I think you missed the point there. |
"but the constant selling is a huge turn off"
but the constant SHILLING is a huge turn off |
It looked to me like the point was, “Take care of yourself” by hiring others to do something you could do yourself. Which, again, is something that most women cannot afford to do. (Sounds pretty similar to Rachel Hollis explaining “the woman who cleans her toilets”.) Surprisingly, I rarely see any comments to Jen about how completely unrelatable her lifestyle has become. Most comments are like, “Yes girrrrrrrlllll, swipe that card!!!”. Even her fan base has changed since 7. |
YES! There have been many posts lately that have annoyed me, but this one was in the top 3 worst from her. |
