Really? Stop wasting our time. https://www.npr.org/2020/04/19/837966525/on-the-record-a-former-biden-staffers-sexual-assault-allegation Tara Reade, a former junior staffer in Joe Biden's Senate office, has accused the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee of sexually assaulting her in 1993, when she was working as a staff assistant. When Reade met up with the senator, she said, he pinned her up against a wall and penetrated her vagina with his fingers. "His hands went underneath my clothing and he was touching me in my private areas and without my consent," Reade told NPR. She said Biden asked her whether she wanted to go somewhere else. Reade said that she pulled away and that Biden pointed his finger at her and said, "You're nothing to me, nothing." |

As the pedantic (yet correct) posters keep pointing out, what she’s accused him of is technically sexual assault, not rape. Words have meanings. Can we move on now. |
WOW. You're claiming that digital penetration, against a woman's will, is not rape? Bookmarking this to pull out the next time a Republican is accused of the same thing and your heads explode. |
DP. You’re insane. They have no retaliatory power whatsoever. If they tried, it would be national news and they would be impeached. And as pp said, until last month, Biden probably didn’t even remember her. He may still not remember who she was, apart from her name. And that had nothing to do with this lie about senility the right keeps pushing, only that she was small potatoes 25 years ago. |
JFC we covered this already. In Washington DC where this supposedly occurred, what she’s accusing him of is not included in the definition of “rape.” Stop using online encyclopedias and dictionaries to define actual legal terms. |
Have you been living abroad the last 4 years? That old America is gone. |
Yeah, Trump is into retaliation. But he’s pretty much in his own league with that. I’ve never heard of a Senator reaching out to punish a former low-level staffer by, what, telling a potential boss not to hire them? If you have an example, do share. |
Not so much that rape is weird, but rather that trauma is. As a culture we do a really poor job actually even defining rape, as evidenced in this thread, but also in how we talk about it - rape is not a prevalent as we’re told by activists, and not as rare as we’re told By law enforcement. And while false rape claims are relatively rare, they’ve always been more common against celebrities. And since the 90s where celebrity status has become more coveted and more accessible than ever - the celebrity of victimhood has generated a huge appeal to far left activists. Some do it to sell books, restart careers or sell their documentary, others do it for the attention, and some are mentally ill. This was always the risk of #metoo. They made an ecosystem that merged with Bernie’s political branches. Getting a seat at the big kid table required first victimhood, second a powerful scalp, and third pious worship at the Bernieworld / Left-anti-American altar. So you have a ton of activists, familiar with trauma, coaching people like Reade to craft their narrative - and any time the narrative hits a dead end, they scream trauma as an excuse. Basically ‘believe us, and if the story we provide is faulty, that is evidence of the trauma, which is more evidence’ - this is clearly a dangerous game - and this is why #metoo was bound to have fail and have backlash from day 1. This is the UVA case being played out as a movement with magnified casualties As a result of the Emily Renda’s trying to elevate themselves to the Big Kid table at all costs. This is also why the DNC ( and more importantly, Dem voters) fear Bernie - it’s not Bernie or his ideas, it’s the people around him that they don’t want put into party power positions - that would be the end of the Democratic Party for generations, and the cementing of the GOPs fascist agenda possibly forever. So when we excuse accusers actions as ‘trauma doesn’t have a playbook’ - we’re really just trying to silence our alarm bells going off. Maybe because of history, “oh she’s just being hysterical” - but that is not actually an excuse to deny observation and logic when they apply. (In fact it is the exact same as saying “oh they’re just being hysterical”) |

I can't believe either side here. You have hypocritical liberals and immoral conservatives here who are just name calling and insulting each other.
Neither side has added anything important to the discussion for 40 pages now. Just give it up. 35 pages ago the horse was dead. 30 pages ago, it was sold to the glue factory. 25 pages ago the remainder was cremated. 20 pages ago the ashes were spread over the pasture. You don't even have the ashes of the horse left and you just can't stop yourself. |
That's the smartest post ever on this topic. |

Fox doesn’t have Reade anywhere on its homepage this morning.
The only article about Biden is a about how he offered a union contract to his staff. I guess that’s that. |
Man, some of you folks are obsessed with Fox and their stories. Why the obsession, pp? |
Feeling a little defensive, are you? |
Because it's the most influential news outlet for people on the right, and the stories they're highlighting and focusing on gives us insight into what the right is thinking about? |
