Finally! |
I have bolded the the statement that FCPS changed the second grade test because some students had been prepared inappropriately. Despite the protests of some, it is actually written in plain and clear English. The only way this is difficult to understand is if the reader is refusing to understand because it is not what he or she wants to hear and not what he or she wants others to hear. It is as though some readers have put their fingers in their ears and are chanting, "Nah, nah, nah, I can't hear you, I can't hear you!" |
Yeah, we are all having our 7 year olds memorize the AAP tests after first buying them from corrupt FCPS teachers in a back alley and then sending our kids to Kumon so that they can learn the memorization skills necessary to remember all of the 140 plus questions. Memorizing the first dozen or so answers is easy but it gets harder after that. 1. c 2. b 3. d 4. a ... etc. It is harder for 7 year olds than you might think. |
o.k., so what's that got to do with weather it is cheating or scamming to use the test prep materials that are available now? The one we used was from Mercer Publishing. |
Isn't that the company that has a selling plan that involves getting parents to sell to other parents? |
Actually, it's not. Woods learned to golf at 2, but Phelps didn't start swimming till 7. Both men likely wouldn't have reached the top of their sport if not for intensive practice, but they also had the innate ability and genetic make-up to excel. Woods was considered a prodigy and his father was a pro-golfer, which is why we haven't seen tons of kids whose parents pushed them into golf at 3 become the next Tiger-like phenom. My guess is if Woods had to take a test in grade school to measure athletic ability or potential, he pretty much would have had to just show up. |
really? |
Yes. people get a commission when they get other parents to buy the products. |
I know nothing of this. Here's another one you can use: http://www.testingmom.com/free-cogat-test-prep-questions/ |
Is that true? Seriously, I knew nothing of this. Used their materials to prep for the CogAT several years ago. |
There is no mention of this on their website. More Urban Myth methinks. |
Duh. If Phelps and Woods had innate ability at their craft why all the intensive prep from the crib? Should those without this innate ability you claim and can see simply at the age of 2 simply not prep ... for it will be useless?
When I got my PhD in genetics all fetuses had innate ability. But, you must use it intensely (prep, prep, prep) to flourish like Woods and Phelps. And these guys did so. Only a fool would follow your recommendation not to prep for tasks and tests..no matter the age. An absolute fool. Phelps and Woods were not fools. The are laughing all the way to the bank. If you must wait for innate ability to stare you in the face (while playing with your toys and feces) the ball game is over. |
Who is this phantom FCPS who tells kids not to prep for tests? Does she have a name?
Is is ok to move out of County to prep and then return? |
Call FCPS AAP office. Ask for Carol Horn. Ask about prepping. Give your name and your childs name. |
If I was prepping my kid, I would not want anyone else to prep, as I would want the advantage. |
