Outstanding word. Should be used more often with regards academic exploits. Why should athletes have a monopoly on the use of prize? I like it. ![]() |
The point is these tests -- CogAT and NNAT were not designed to be studied for (hence FCPS' a good night's sleep and healthy breakfast are the best prep.') So to say kids are foolish not to prep for them is ignorant. |
FCSP stole this remark from my father. He always told me before any test (prepped or unprepped) to get a good night's sleep and healthy breakfast as the best preparation (the night before the test). How dare you steal mty father's quote and attribute it to FCPS? What does FCPS recommend the 2 or 3 weeks before the test? I do not need a PhD in education/bureaucrat to tell me the best preparation before a test (or contest) is a good night's sleep and healthy breakfast. The hard work and prep is done well before the night before the test. Even Division 1 ball players know this ... and many are only in university for the sport. Please, you can do better than this ... can you? |
I agree with part of your statement. I would not recommend kids to prep the night before the test. On the contrary, the best preparation is well ahead of the test (months and weeks before) not the night before. I would add a movie and video games to FCPS recommendation of a good night's sleep and healthy breakfast in the 24 h before the test. Just to be clear. |
Kids are foolish and ignorant not to plan ahead, work hard and prep for their tests and exams. This is something you do not leave to the 11th hour like procrastinating adults. Discipline taught at an early age lasts a lifetime. |
But they do not say the only thing you should do is get a good night's sleep and have a heathy breakfast - so to read into that statement that FCPS doesn't wany anyone to prep is just making stuff up. Also where does FCPS ever say the tests "were not designed to be studied for?" Just making that up too? |
I am so glad that y'all do not work for me. My work involves quick thinking based on things happening that we can not predict or control. We can prep, but we do not know the exact form of the disaster. My people need to be able to think on there feet to save lives |
Oh, please! Would it be better if I said that kids who have to prep for these tests really aren't that bright? |
There is absolutely nothing on this thread whatsoever to support your contention that FCPS considers prepping for the CogAt to be cheating, scamming, unethical or discourages it in any way. |
In an FAQ on the tests, previously linked in page 32 of this thread (google is my friend), at http://www.fcps.edu/is/aap/pdfs/FAQre2012CustomizedCogAT.pdf, it says, "FCPS staff members chose to administer the custom form of the CogAT this year after it came to our attention that some students, in previous years, had prepared for the CogAT using the exact form of the CogAT being administered in FCPS." That sounds like cheating to me. |

More drivel. Just like saying Michael Phelps or Tiger Woods is a poor swimmer or golfer because of the intense prep (hours daily) since the age of 5. |
I think most of these posts are a shrill for a test prep company |
you mean shill? How so? They're taking a beating from one very motivated poster here. |
Which one? FCPS |
