Well, I think we're still waiting on the State BoE to rule on the emergency filing; the State BoE is meeting next week, so I assume that's when they'll rule on it, but I'm not a lawyer and this is my first boundary study following closely. (I've also yet to see the actual text of the emergency filing, so that would be fun to read.) Then assuming it gets smacked down, we see if the "Save Wootton" people want to continue their legal options. Then we do this all over again with the next boundary study with closures. |
Nailed it! |
Here are some quotes from the very first (epic) thread about W @ C: On Property Values "Not only will the property values change, but a huge draw for the county will be gone. High income earners that are looking to put down roots are looking at the ratio of home price to academic cluster success. Wootton clears that hurdle for many, and the resulting Crown will not. Taylor has no skin in the game and will not feel the effects, but the County will." On Teen Pregnancy I would “Never send me kids To GHS” fun fact-did you know that GHS has so much teenage pregnancy that they have a special closet for baby donations that they ask the community to give donations to regularly? Imagine having a problem so big that it needs its own closet space! |
| These quotes are great but even better are the screenshots with the real names and numbers of people from the Wootton Whatsapp chats. It never fails to surprise me the things that people have no shame about putting in writing for perpetuity. |
So you approve of doxxing. Got it. |
| How about the families with actual students impacted who want to go to Crown? |
Nope but I do have a running list of people who I'd want to avoid based on their comments. |
The lawsuit isn’t going to do anything. It’s happening. So i’m sure your kids will go to Crown as expected. Also, just as an aside to highlight a comment up above. It’s kind of a known thing that the lower the socioeconomic level of a school’s attendance-the higher the teen pregnancy rate. And it’s an actual real problem. Sure you have the random super small amount of teenagers getting pregnant at high performing schools but it is much less common. I went to a super poor school and in my junior year, at least 20 girls were pregnant. Typically this is happening because there is little to no parenting/supervision going on. Will this have a negative effect on the other kids at a school? I mean, no but it’s still not a great look for a school. |
There were definitely comments over the last few months on threads where people were talking about doxxing the people for their comments, boycotting their business’s etc…and trying to ruin their lives. All over opinions about school boundaries. |
We aren’t at Wootton. We are at a poorer school and very few are pregnant and if they are who cares. We have a clothing and food pantry. It’s the right thing to do at all schools to support families. The students parents may be the ones pregnant too. |
This school sounds terrible with the culture. Toxic. |
Yeah, who cares! Just let them repeat the cycle of poverty. Fun! |
Truthfully, it's not. At least not yet. Most of the toxicity and "Save Wootton' stuff is from future families. So watch out, I guess. |
Having a kid young doesn't doom you. My spouse did. If anything, it made them want to work harder and get their education for their kids. |
And, community.. if you look at who is showing up and advocating. The kids we know at Wootton are great kids and want the new building. |
